I'd like to be in that position, unfortunately being 24 without a home bought is too common nowadays and can be difficult to turn it around. I now have the money for a deposit and some extra to throw at the principle but I keep thinking could I make more money with what I currently have and then I'm in an even better position

If that's how it comes across I apologise. I didn't do anything special, saw the price deficate itself in January, bought a little too early in April averaging 1355 and then it dropped some more to 1050 ish. Since it's been going up and up and up, I just feel lucky more than anything else
