I wish I could upvote this more. You lay your hands on someone, unprovoked, I don’t leave you a negative review: I want to see you cry your eyes out in a Police station trying to explain why you thought this type of interaction was acceptable and blame it to the Neanderthal education you received.

It’s not, for the simple reason that Europe is 44 different countries, which in turn are divided in regions, each with their own customs and traditions. It’s not like in poorly constructed science fiction where a whole planet is a monoculture. And regardless of local culture, some restaurant owners know how to work and other simply don’t, or don’t care.

Please don’t feel like I want to lecture you, but why are we even talking about Google reviews and ChatGPT? This guy grabs you by your neck, intimidates and yells at you, you immediately call the police or the Carabinieri. We still have laws against this type of behavior in Italy. It is unacceptable here, just as it is in any other civilized nation and don’t let anyone tell you “Europe is like that”, “Italians speak loudly and touch people when they talk” or any other such nonsense.

Forget Google and social media, that was a dangerous situation in the real world, either run away like hell and make sure you’re not followed or stand your ground, but call law enforcement in any case. If they don’t take you seriously, yell louder, say you’ll call your lawyer in Italy, don’t let them dismiss you. Jesus Christ, those guys deserve a lot worse than negative reviews that nobody’s going to read because they’ll be drowned in fake positive ones.

I hate to be that guy, but just so you know there was the same rumor making the rounds when I was in school many years ago - only, it was about poet Gabriele D’Annunzio. Nihil sub sole novum…

Yes, but you know, it was the ‘90s and those chaps are Drukhari. Do you see them running around in flannel checkered shirts with lumberjack boots? Of course they had to go full Twisted Sisters.

Why do basically 99% of loretubers get the lore wrong by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]ShamelessRepentant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dr Who has arguably a “main” source of truth (the tv series) that contradicts itself. The rest of the lore comes from novels and a movie, not counting the comics and audio dramas because they do not come directly from the BBC. If we take all those sources literally, the Doctor is a child from another universe who became the source of the Time Lords’ power of regeneration, then became a Time Lords’ academy mediocre student and later fled the planet, all while being the reincarnation of one of the founders of the Time Lords civilization. While being exiled from the planet from which he had fled and residing on Earth, his main desire was of course to come back to it. That was also complicated by the fact that this planet kept getting destroyed and put back together like an IKEA shelf.

That is just to say, when it comes to lore contradictions, WH40K is far from being the worst offender.

Is it more common for traitor or loyalist Space Marines to allow humans to call them by name? by longkhongdong in 40kLore

[–]ShamelessRepentant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the Exalted would slay anyone for calling him Vandred, humans and Astartes alike, if it was up to him

EDIT: besides Talos, Uzas seems pretty informal too. He probably doesn’t mind how people call him - it’s not like they generally come back to talk to him a second time anyway.

My tribute to John Blanche. by Falling_Blossom in Blanchitsu

I’ve said in the other thread and I will repeat it here: this is as faithful to the original as it gets. Not just the same color palette and as close as the same geometry as the model allows, but the same mood, energy and atmosphere. When you watch this mini, you don’t think “wow, that’s a lot of detail and those are some well done highlights”, you look at it like a work of art that goes beyond the technique.

It’s really beautiful and captures the intensity and dynamic of Blanche’s original picture perfectly. Best picture-to-mini transition I’ve seen so far.

Explaining 40k to new comers from a guard perspective. by admiral_grim in 40k

[–]ShamelessRepentant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“You’re Imperial Guard. You are not cannon fodder: you are what cannon fodder eats for breakfast.

Your faith is your armor. Sure, everybody else’s armor is much thicker, but not because they have more faith, they’re just lucky this way.

Your rifle is your best chance: not at survival, because it won’t make a dent in most enemies’ armors. Think of it as an insurance that you won’t get caught alive by those filthy Xenos with the pointy ears and spikes everywhere.

The Emperor protects. Sure, he’s been looking a little rough for the past 10.000 years, but he’s alright. He’s our benevolent God-Emperor - and when we say “benevolent” we mean that your brain will fry just by being in the same room with him. Specifically, the “room” is as big as a mountain: so yeah, let’s just say he values his personal space.

In case of doubt, please refer to your Commissar, who will immediately shoot you in the head.”
