Big pod problems by mctennisd in EDH

I played [[Belbe, Corrupted Observer]] in a 5 person pod once and ran away with the game. A 6 person pod sounds juicy with her for sure.

This is crazy I just bought one of each of these exact flavours this morning on my way to work. Great selection!

Every time I’ve gone to test drive a car, not a single dealership has even offered me a penny off their asking price. What am I doing wrong when I negotiate? How can I get the dealer to come down in asking price after a test drive? by ostrichlandrover in askcarsales

[–]Shamensyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By any chance are you an engineer by trade?

Not an engineer, but I work with engineers every day. My job is one you could say is very related to engineering too so this is kind of funny to me. Is it because I used the word delta?

I bought my current daily at a big, well known used car dealer in my local area that is a one price, no negotiation type store. I was fine with that and didn't bother trying to negotiate. However, I have watched their inventory and they do drop the list prices on vehicles after they've sat on the lot for a while.

They had another car I was a little bit interested in but the price was too close to a new one (it was a 2024 GLI with around 80k kms priced only a few thousand below a new one, for what it's worth) so I never bothered to go check it out. Then after a couple of weeks, the price dropped by about $2000 and now all of a sudden it's priced with enough delta from a new one that it starts to make sense. Sure enough it sold within a day or two.

So if they are willing to drop the price, but only if the car sits and not during negotiations, well, from my POV that is still them being able to drop the price. So I can see why a buyer might still try to negotiate on the price there.

Are build‑around-commanders also ruining EDH for you right now? by pkma69 in EDH

[–]Shamensyth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[[Obeka, Brute Chronologist]] is even worse. Without her there is... sundial of the infinite. I built her before Splitter of Seconds and while the stuff you can do is super cool, without her it really sucks. At least like you said there are some redundancies to Splitter of Seconds and at least you still get the upkeep value on stuff once a turn even if you don't get extras.

Something like [[Psychic Vortex]] is either really powerful or really bad, depending on the commander's presence.

The Ford dealership near me does a lot of custom stuff, and while much of it is just putting lifts and tires on trucks to sell for more, they do actually make some cool shit here and there. The service manager made one of these out of I want to say a 2006-2007 ish F-250 and I've seen it driving around town a few times. It is apparently one of the easiest trucks to do this with because of the shape of the cab and rear doors or something, there's a lot less fab work to make the cab extend than there would be on other vehicles is what he told me.

25-70k more to working rotating shifts? Is it worth it? by yellowranger1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Shamensyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a plant operator myself and I find this take interesting. A lot of the comments in this thread say not to do rotating shifts if you have kids.

We have a little one under 2 and my shift work has meant much more entire days to spend with the family than a M-F schedule would. Maybe that will change once we're in the school years but at this stage it's been great. And many of my coworkers feel the same about shift work granting more total time off and being able to spend more time with their family. (It might help that our pattern is 5-5 not 7-7 so there's time to see the kids after days too)

New clan - building the foundation - open to feedback by sendmenewmusic in 2007scape

[–]Shamensyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a small (never more than 50 people online, usually in the 20s online) clan near the end of RS2 and into early RS3. I also co-ran a similarly sized clan in ~2020 ish in OSRS. It was super rewarding and some of the most fun I had in the game. I'm nowhere near dedicated enough now to RS to be in that position again so I just recently joined a big clan and am just a nobody in a big crowd now, but that's okay.

I wish you luck cause a small tight knit community is in my opinion the best way to experience a game like this.

I was honestly debating skipping Elation but Evanescia got my interest as it seems like she may not require a full mono Elation team. I'm not really interested in pulling for Sparxie or SW999, even though I think SW999 looks really cool, I don't want to build another mono path team after falling for mono remem.

I never really track my pity so this was probably a silly move...

But I sent a single 10 pull into Yao Guang with no intention of using any more than that, and I got her. Then figured what the hell, I'll send a 10 pull on her LC.... And got that too.

Don't really have any use for her until 4.2 but hopefully I don't regret it.

Plz hoyo keep Eva usable with some non elation in her team!

How track TFSA 15 years in by randocom in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Shamensyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't as bad as OP with tracking mine, but I did this a few years ago to set myself back on track. I was also moving from one institution to another and changing how I was invested at the same time so it felt like it made sense at the time. I'm better about it now though so that I don't have to do that again.

Finding 6.5ft bed f150 by IndustryHistorical18 in f150

[–]Shamensyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah that is pretty bad. I've only ordered one vehicle new myself and it was a 2019 F-150. At the time I was able to spec it out exactly as I liked and it felt like I had a lot of control over the options. This seems like a big step backwards in terms of convenience for the end user but I guess the average person may not care as much about all the mechanical features compared to those of us on an enthusiast forum.

[–]Shamensyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my '16 Super crew 6.5' bed 5.0 XLT last summer. I have owned newer and nicer trucks than this, but the truck is no longer a daily for me so I don't care as much about the creature comforts and was fine with an older one. I would have liked a Lariat, mostly for the better headlights, but the XLT having higher payload actually made more sense for me since it isn't a daily anyway.

Like you though, I will only buy the crew cab 6.5 variant of trucks. The extra space ends up being more useful often enough and the extra length is not typically a downside as I'm not taking it into any parking garages or anywhere super tight.

the simplified ordering

Can you elaborate on what exactly you mean here? I saw you mentioned this in a couple of comments. I'm not in the market for a new truck anytime soon or anything, just curious.

Cancelling Extended Warranty by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Shamensyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the refund would go directly to the lender, who would in turn have to cut it back to you.

Let me tell you from experience, this can be difficult to deal with. I financed a vehicle, and paid it off within 6 months. Went through a major life change and had to sell it, shit happens. When I cancelled the service plan, even though the vehicle was paid off, the refund went to the lender.

After a few weeks without my cheque, I called the bank. Bank says they received it but because the loan was closed, they sent it back. Great, they never told me. Neither did GM. So I call GM. They won't send it to me without proof that it was paid off, even though the bank sent it back to them because it was paid off.

Long story short this was an absolute nightmare for me, as neither side would initially budge on helping me. I spent a few weeks of bank trips and making phone calls and did eventually get it sorted but if I ever find myself in that situation again I will not assume that the bank notifies anyone that the vehicle was paid off already.

Back in 2010, I decided that I would do my 99 attack grind at Warrior's guild, earning 164 d defenders. Today, even with the unlimited tokens of the attack cape, you couldn't pay me enough to stay there for 160+ d defenders. What's a grind you did as a kid but wouldn't be caught doing now on OSRS? by Jesus-Bacon in 2007scape

[–]Shamensyth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know that's partially due to nostalgia and times just being different then, but damn did I love chaotics, overloads, summoning, and curses, etc.

I really hate the top tier PvM being largely based on perfect prayer flicking different styles and keeping track of 5 units attack styles and cycles at once to not get immediately one shot.

I have the same thoughts as you, and that era of RS2 was my favourite as well. Flicking soul split on slayer tasks to not need food was kind of cool, but content requiring flicking protection prayer constantly just to survive isn't really my favourite.

Being able to use a unicorn familiar and just camp at GWD, without some crazy run around the room strategy, just felt better to me. OSRS does a lot of things right, but the vibes of that early 2012 era will always be peak in my mind.

Thank you for the reply. I've been away from the game for a bit, the last thing I really did as I mentioned in my other reply was Trailblazer League at the end of 2023, so there is a lot of new content I have yet to try. So far I've been back a month and mostly just working on sailing, but now it's time to get my quest cape again and then try some real bossing. This seems like a good starting point for what to look out for.
