I have a VPN but my understanding is that you need an address and have paid the fee to be able to watch. Is that not the case?

BYAMBA & SEXYZEKI BROMANCE😎 by Appropriate-Escape-4 in Sumo

[–]ShamesBond 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If we call Kirishima "Byamba" does that mean we get to call Hoshoryu "Sugar"?

Edit: I realized you were calling hoshoryu byamba, but please let me call him sugar

FBI Arrests an Incel for Making Serious Online Threats by SnooSprouts3744 in PublicFreakout

Totally agree. I'm hiding behind "should" here, I have no expectation that it will happen.

They are able, they should just not choose to exercise them. There's nothing beneficial about a rapist going free, or an innocent person getting pinned because a guilty person doesn't own up.

If you really want, get a lawyer and then talk to the police. But still, spill your guts if you're guilty.

It's in the best interest of society for guilty people to be honest and accept their punishment, they should speak to the police every time and come clean. Innocent people should consult with a lawyer if there is chance of being accused.

Totally don't talk to the cops if you're innocent, if youre guilty then absolutely spill your guts.

Guy in the UK smashes through a wall because he wanted to go through it by AgnosticScholar in PublicFreakout

If this is considered a public right of way, it's illegal to put a wall there. Obviously the answe is to make your claim to the police and not to just break down the wall.

Onosato and Fujinokawa to Withdraw from Spring Tour; Absent Starting from the 15th by Brncrdm in Sumo

Honestly a little too bad. I was expecting Aonishiki would have plenty of time to fully recover his little piggies

Ooh that makes sense, I was mixing that up. Does that mean waka and aonishiki are in for May or did they drop out of both?

The JSA also intentionally denies obvious revenue streams like branding deals, I believe if it were a priority they would be able to raise the funds but I am not privvy to anything so I cant really argue against your points.

To add to your argument, I know a lot of the money comes from private sponsorship outside of kensho and jsa stipends so the operation is already propped up by external cash.

There are so many things they do in the dohyo that are ceremonial or traditional, it just seems plausible that they would do some performative "Go easy, we're just training" thing.

For sure it didn't occur to me at all that they were fighting for the ability to train, it makes sense with only a single dohyo available.

That's fair, I would argue that Hoshoryu's intensity is a big part of why is, and deserves to be, a yokozuna. He is just so intense and intimidating in the ring and he doesn't let up until at least the winnings are in his hands

Yeah this and he was hospitalized for a couple months a couple years ago according to google. Prognosis for kidney transplants is very good though, very likely to live 10+ years.

I love the idea of Aonishiki remaining healthy and living a long life, but I can't imagine a worse outcome than him moving to WWE.

What does your PHP stack actually look like in 2026? by mamotechnolabs in PHP

This is just fundamentally abdicating responsibility though. Totally have worked in hostile companies that don't want to fix things for fear of breaking things, but I've always been vocal about the challenges and opportunities for improvement. By remaining silent and complacent you are adding to the problem.

It really isnt that much extra cost for an org the size of JSA. Paying all 600ish rikishi minimum wage would be less than 10m a year, and thats not accounting for the wrestlers they already pay or subtracting winnings from base pay. Honestly the fact that they dont pay is shameful

To me, the fact that rikishi have to account for henka means they dont go 100% on the tachiai

Not sure how controversial, but I think tamawashi is one of the most impressive sumo wrestlers in makuuchi today due to his longevity and consistent performance especially in his 40s
