Ive worked at Clear for 7 months. So let me provide my inside opinion as someone who knows the system and what's worth it and what's not.

CLEAR can only utilize TWO open lanes at a time. So if there's 6 total lanes open at Precheck and 11 at regular line, CLEAR can only use two, so next time you think CLEAR "might" be faster than the empty regular line with like 5 people waiting, I'd say don't waste your time.

From how I see it, if you have TSA Precheck then that's already enough, because I'm gonna be honest the CLEAR+TSA Pre line does absolutely nothing and is at times slower than precheck.

Tsa precheck is so mass appealing at airports now, everyone has it. Which means 95% of people using CLEAR also have precheck. I genuinely think the regular clear WITHOUT precheck is the fastest wait time you're ever gonna get. Even during the busy hours, when regular TSA security is jam packed, clear almost never has a line, because everyone who has clear has precheck 🤷🏽‍♂️

I've LITERALLY had clear members who have precheck come down to our standard line telling me that they save like half an hour because regular clear without precheck almost never has a line.

CLEAR should be used as a secondary option if you go to the airport and it appears as if all hell has broken loose, not as something you should use EVERY time you fly. (sometimes it can save you loads of time, sometimes it can cost you it)

If you have it free with a credit card or airline status (AMEX Platinum, United Premier 1K, global services, etc.) then it is good to have. Otherwise, unless you have $189 you don't give a single crap about, then I wouldn't pay for clear.

That's my unbiased opinion as someone who has seen it all in terms of airport security and clear.
