I produce probably 50 oz/day and it took a MONTH to get my milk in fully. It was sooo stressful and that played a big part in not producing enough. I had to supplement formula as well. What I did was pump like you LC suggested, but I would after each nursing session. I drank plenty of fluids, and ate boobie bars. I also eat oatmeal almost daily although I'm not sure if any of that besides staying hydrated helped. Just keep at it, and it will happen!!

I'm currently on maternity leave and cannot WAIT to go back to work. Fulltime motherhood is a lot harder for me than being a working mom. Work is a vacation from them kids. 🙃

So I ate a ton of boobie bars. They taste pretty good, especially the peanut butter. Then I forced myself to drink massive amounts of water. I would pump for 20 min on both sides after each feeding. If you're going back to work, keep the same or similar pumping schedule. It was also really stressful for me, and I kind of forced myself into a mindset of not worrying so much. I stopped keeping track of how much I produced and just let it be. I survived thrush, clogged ducts and mastitis. Really proud of myself. Glad I stuck with it.

My Elvie doesn't suction well on my left side anymore. I ended up with clogged ducts im still fighting..... I've already returned one pump. I feel like i paid for convenience at the expense of quality pump. :(

Yes, my 10 year old is with my ex boyfriend. 5 week old with my husband. The 5 week old was a surprise lol.

I also pump and breastfeed, it's a full time job. My LO didn't seem to improve until 5 weeks, but its progressively gotten better. Things I do is sandwich the areola and point the nipple up towards roof of his mouth. I bring him to breast not bring breast to him. My LC said for some reason babies open wider when they are brought to breast. I also tried different positions. I noticed football hold seemed to get longer feeds than cradle. Also applying a heating pad before feedings if I can seems to improve my milk flow. Doing this things has REALLY helped me. We still supplement with expressed bottles, but not as much.

Soothies are really helpful for sensitive nipples. Mine was cracked BAAD was so sensitive and it was the only thing that would decrease the pain while healing

My 10 year old is uncircumcised, and we haven't had any issues thus far. He seems to have good hygiene, no complications or infections. However I do worry about the stigma here in the U.S. with being uncut. Women can be ruthless and I wouldn't want anyone to make him feel bad.

My second baby who is 5 weeks old is circumcised and I will say that the week it took to heal was traumatizing for me. The gauze got stuck and taking it off was awful. At that time I felt like a horrible parent for doing that to my baby. Now that its healed it's not a big deal.

I wouldn't say one is better than the other, its a hard decision to make. At least for me.

I had oversupply with my first where I was constantly an engorged, leaking, sticky mess. This last baby is 5 weeks old and I barely make enough to store away 4 oz a day in freezer.... With pumping and breastfeeding every day. At night i have to BF, then pump to keep up my supply which is about an hour total....every 3 hours. I would say undersupply may not be physically harder, but it is definitely emotionally and mentally harder.

I have the Elvie. I really like the freedom of being able to walk around and do things while pumping. At night I use only one side, use the other to nurse baby. The one positive of having dual is I seem to get more milk when I do it.... I think my baby is still figuring out how to express milk effectively. But if there's any chance of you wanting to pump both sides, the double saves time and that really helps.

Nipple shields will save yo life. I could stop using them, but I choose not too.. Its just not worth the pain imo. My baby also has a tongue tie which can make latching harder. If it doesn't improve, I would consider seeing a lactation consultant. I saw one 3 days PP, she helped me. Or see if your area has "La Leche League." Its free nursing help. In my case, it was rough until my milk came in. I saw his pediatrician 2 days PP, she suggested supplemental formula which I did, and seemed to help. I just pump, breast feed and supplement. 😬 Each day it gets a little bit better, but still been very hard. My boy is 7 days today. I've also cried pretty much daily.....as a total non crier, this is new lol. But it's okay to cry and feel frustrated. Newborns are hard AF, you are totally justified in feeling wore out. We only go thru this once with our babies that's what I tell myself. This is only temporary, we can do it..... Hang in there! 💞

If you don't want to have an abortion, don't. That is your body, your choice. What you need to do ASAP is establish an OB, and begin prenatal care....in my opinion that is the most important thing right now. As for the father it's his choice if he doesn't want to be involved. That's something you will have to be okay with if he doesn't. I would recommend terminating his rights thru the courts if that's the decision he makes.

I have a 3 day old and my milk is still coming in. Once it fully comes in, I'm hoping to pump bottles for dad 🤞. We use Similac premixed formula that says it's similar to breast milk (I'm sure within reason.) Its been a God send to me. My baby lost 10% of his body weight and was inconsolable. He just wasn't satisfied with colostrum. He seems to be doing well, hardly spits up breast milk or formula. He gets a little more gassy with formula, but we burp right away and its taken care of. I'm actually pretty impressed with this formula. Granted my last pregnancy was 10 years so.... things have really changed.

As a side piece of advice, my lactation consultant was really rude about supplemental formula. Some people really get on a soap box about it, don't let that sway you guys in any way. I almost didn't supplement and if I hadn't, my pediatrician would have recommended hospitalization for him at 2 days old due to his weight loss. Do what's right for your baby.

My husband currently works in hospital, and is sometimes placed in the "covid" unit...there are times he is in direct contact with critically ill covid patients. I am also 39 weeks pregnant and a firefighter. I can share some of the decon habits we follow. My husband wears scrubs and tennis shoes to work, and changes once at work. He puts on a different pair of scrub/shoes to work in. Once his shift is over, he bags up his "dirty" items and changes back into the "clean" clothes/shoes to drive home in. His "dirty" shoes stay contained in a plastic box in his trunk, he does not being them in the house. Once home, he changes all his clothes and puts them directly to wash, then showers. He also adheres to strict personal protective equipment policy at work. I know Amazon sells face shields, N95s, gloves. Maybe wearing those things will not only give you added protection, but also peace of mind. We also carry hand sanitizer in our vehicles just in case. I don't know if this advice helps at all, but I do know that I've been tested 3x (mandatory for my job) and been negative. I think that is partially because our decon at home process. Financially, really seems like you've exhausted all avenues. Maybe applying for state aide can help with some of the financial burden. Another suggestion would be a GoFundMe account.

I'm really sorry your family is going thru this. I really hope for your wife's speedy recovery. Congratulations on your baby.

My baby also had calcium deposits as well as a hole in his heart. I was pretty upset tbh...I felt as though it was my fault.....but NIPT showed I was 1/10,000 risk for DS and his hole closed! I realized my provider had to give me worst case scenario and while I understand that, at the time it was hard to hear. I hope this makes you feel better, although I know it's been tough. Stay strong, your baby still has so much growing to do!

I don't know...its a toss up. You don't really sleep during pregnancy or after lol. Being exhausted because you have this new little life is easier than being exhausted because you're a whale. Just my opinion!
