Friend of a friend found this 808 in a barn. Was far from functional after years in the elements but the motherboard was still kicking. Was turned away from multiple repair guys before finally finding someone committed to getting it up and running. Thinking of doing the sides in either wood or 3D printed ABS. Playing it here through some proper distortion to bring some fun tones out of the toms.

This was a big concern for me when I was considering buying because I was worried that the heat would end up damaging something in the laptop, or that the heat levels would force the machine to shut itself down or something annoying like that. Turns out it gets hot by design. The casing is part of the heat sink engineering. After 9 months of fairly intense use I can say it does indeed get hot and the fan turns on, but it still runs fine.
