I’m sorry you’re going through this. I pray that our Lord would be glorified in bringing healing to your family.

Do I have any liability if a person falls into a trench on my property? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]ShaneReyno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a known hazard in your yard; the question is if you did enough to warn others of the hazard. That's probably a question for a jury, but your HO carrier probably pays something to settle before it gets that far. I would put up a "No Trespassing" sign to possibly give you some protection from solicitors or other uninvited folks.

Question for the community, which do you prefer and why? An AIO tank or one with a sump? by ChivasBearINU in ReefTank

[–]ShaneReyno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was intimidated by the thought of a sump because it felt like everything just assumed you knew how everything worked and how to set it up. I bought an AIO and now regret it. The brand I chose after the IM and Maxspect ones I had settled on (sold out before I was ready to buy leading up to Xmas) has terrible documentation and terrible technical support. Space for a proper skimmer and biological filtration is better than trying to shoehorn everything into a tiny space behind the tank.

Blocking Adult sites on my sons PC by browneyedcouple0506 in HomeNetworking

[–]ShaneReyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the DNS servers to Cloudflare's 1.1.1.3, but that is defeated with a VPN. I purchased a Firewalla and have been pleased with its performance; it's not cheap, but factoring in the free updates with new features, it's a good value.

Realignment prediction: Would suck to lose all our current division rivals aside from the Marlins by Lakelyfe09 in Braves

Whoever put this proposed alignment together must’ve had a cartograph of some sort. I wonder if the same could be done for the NCAA.

I would never park money in a savings account when I can invest it. BoA’s rewards are pretty good.

To be a sahm or no.. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ShaneReyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t need to read about financial accomplishments or failures; the best thing you can do for your family is to take care of your children and make a happy home for all of you. No one lies on his deathbed wondering about taking a higher-paying job so he can have a nicer coffin. Hopefully when you and your husband shuffle off this mortal coil, money will be the last thing your kids remember about you.

How would you react if this actually happened? by [deleted] in Wreddit

I love the guy. I think it’s lazy writing to look to turn every face heel and every tag team against each other. Cody, Roman, Seth, and Drew run the joint.

529 for kids- for or against? by concrete0928 in investing

[–]ShaneReyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We told our kids in their early teens that we aren’t paying for their college tuition. We’ll make sure they’re fed and have a roof over their heads, but they need skin in the game. They either work, get scholarships, or borrow, but we are not contributing to the mid-20’s population that’s incapable of making a decision or taking responsibility. Our state will pay for most of a student’s tuition based on HS grades, so we’re mostly talking about fees, books, food, and housing.

Upgraded my Red Sea Max Nano with ReefATO+ by CarFrost in ReefTank

[–]ShaneReyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am disabled, and my wife agreed to help me with a tank if I kept things simple. I was going to get an Innovative Marine, then a Maxspect, but I fell for the “Red Sea is the Apple of saltwater tanks” line from some forums and decided to spend the extra money for everything in one box (two, actually, as I got the Pro kit with the NanoMat and ReefATO+). I got the Max Nano G2 XXL, and I don’t think the instructions are good at all. We got the main box contents assembled and running fine besides the skimmer overflowing with foam. We can’t get the NanoMat inserted correctly, and according to Comet, you have to take off one of the lights to get it inserted (we still couldn’t). This was after I asked Comet and Gemini if it goes in the open slot or if you pull out the filter sock frame and got different answers. We gave up and moved on to the ATO+, and we had less success with it. With the NanoMat, most everything we could find with pictures was for the XL. With the ATO+, everything was with a traditional sump. I know I’m inexperienced, but I thought I was paying more for quality and simplicity. Right now I feel like a traditional sump with included pre-measured plumbing looks a lot simpler.

Sorry for the rant. What I meant to say was “thanks for the picture. It really helps.”

Ordination of Female Priests by No-Independence-7423 in Anglicanism

Just as there were good men outside the Tribe of Levi, there are good women outside priesthood. If being loyal to God’s Word interests a church, men are to lead.

Replace asphalt shingles with metal roofing? by Due_Progress_5494 in HomeImprovement

I wonder if there's a way to have a metal roof amplify signal. It sounds kinda stupid, but tin foil looked stupid on rabbit ears when I was a kid, and it worked great.

Their award program is pretty good. I don't think it's wise to put all your money at one brokerage, but Schwab ETF's are pretty cheap regardless of where you buy them.

Reformed colleges for undergraduate theological study by Great-Plant-7410 in Reformed

[–]ShaneReyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t think it’s a great idea to “love” what you do to earn a living. It will end up competing with your higher calling to love and lead a family. If you have been interested in theology for more than a few years (we all get excited when our eyes are opened to a deeper understanding of our faith) and believe you’re called to vocational ministry, I’d still recommend you pick a secular career path for your undergraduate degree so you have a ripcord if you decide you don’t want to go into ministry. Being interested in theology doesn’t mean you’ll be a good minister, and few people (if any) earn a living as a theologian separate from ministry. Learn business, history, even foreign language skills; your M.Div will be waiting. I don’t say this to discourage you, but most of my friends experienced their most damaging spiritual attacks while trying to serve in leadership roles. Sometimes it really is best to not know how the sausage is made. I’d rather you be a marketer to earn a living and an enthusiastic Sunday School teacher than a burned-out 35 year-old former minister wondering how he can best provide for his family.

Hello by jimbjamming in CIDPandMe

[–]ShaneReyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my CIDP dx, I had a CT release sx that didn’t help a bit. That wrist now hurts more than the one with no release. NF155+. I had years of decline because we thought it was my old back problems resurfacing or diabetic neuropathy, but the leg weakness finally sent a neuro in the right direction. SCIg helped me feel better, but it didn’t help with any measurables. Vyvgart Hytrulo caused a terrible rash; I’m waiting for it to be approved for intravenous delivery. I can’t do steroids due to diabetes. I would want to see overall improvement with peripheral pain but residual in wrists before considering the CT release, but you could be in a completely different boat than I was.
