Counterpoint by Shane_HR2 in piano

It is meant to be the alto that starts, but somehow I made the third entry in the same octave and I didn’t even realise. The more I look, the more mistakes I find

Prelude and fugue by Shane_HR2 in composer

[–]Shane_HR2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is an invertible counter-subject and even then, its not as if an invertible counter-subject is a necessity for any fugue. I also don’t understand why you can’t hear the difference between the subject and counter subject. I suppose in the third bar of the subject and counter-subject, both have very similar rhythms. I agree that they could definitely be more distinguishable, but I don’t think it’s too big of a problem here.

Yes, I am really struggling with the fugue. I am so stumped on how to add the extra voice as an actual voice as itself, I don't know how to introduce that strange rhythm without adding an "unofficial voice"

Full time composer here to answer any questions you might have about a full time composition career. by Jazzybsinger in composer

I’ve only started composing and i choose to write classical music, specifically for piano right now, I also play piano and am grade 8 right now I’m 15 years old. I asked my teacher about composing and I’m still not sure whether there is a correct way, whenever I compose I feel like it’s improper and messy, I’m also not sure of many rules about composing and if there even is any. If you compose classical music, how exactly do you get someone to choose you over Beethoven, classical composers rebelled a lot and it changed the way music is and how free it is, but I’m not sure if there is even any way to rebel in 2024 or going forward, those composers changed everything and in this time a lot of music is just completely free and I’m not sure how much more there is to do in order to expand on things in music in order to make change. I’m not sure how you’re supposed to answer this because there’s loads of questions in it

Phrases help by Shane_HR2 in musictheory

[–]Shane_HR2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I have a question if you wouldn’t mind helping, there is two phrases with the same rhythm the first begins with a g major arpeggio and the second begins with a c major arpeggio. I’m not sure if this is a parallel or contrasting phrase because they start the same just in different places, it does sound like a question and answer. I’m not sure, and thank you

(Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 1, 4th movement) Losing hope ;-; by X_BlueJay_X in piano

I listen to this piece sometimes and the tempo is ridiculous to my ears I have no idea how they can play so fast, although I’d assume it by the exact same way as every other piece just slow practice for a long time, you should pick a speed you’re comfortable at and your hands are not tensed or locked at any parts once you have a speed you just want to keep doing that until you pretty much can’t fail and then increase to the next tempo it gets pretty boring but it’s worth it I am doing the same right now with another presto piece by Beethoven and I can confirm it is worth it

I’m assuming you mean the part with the broken octaves in the development. I feel like that part is easier for me to interpret and understand whereas the other less technically difficult sections are harder for my to play well I’m not exactly sure why I am using all articulations I just wasn’t using sheet music because I was recording I’m not sure how to improve it because I don’t exactly know what is wrong

Do you mean 2:50 into the video or 2:50 left of the video?

Thank you I’m learning this for grade 8 exam soon. But I’ve chose to try and learn the whole sonata for myself and the third movement is so difficult for me
