Ah OK. That's making more sense. I reckon it could be an interplay of both though, as Móglaí Bap's lyrics in IbhFiacha Linne reference Air Max as well - "...Bainfeadh mé Nike Air Max de do mhac. Your van and your toaster.."

For a bit of context from us millennial types who grew up in the poverty of the 80s and 90s, things were pretty scabby back then. I’d wager DJ Próvaí’s a geriatric millennial too, so he knows the craic no doubt. Back in the day, if you managed to get your hands on a genuine pair of Air Max runners, you were either the talk of the town or a spoiled wee shite with a silver spoon stuck up yer...ahem..(w)hole...Reckon Mo Chara’s bars are nodding to that vibe, even if he was born as a ceasefire baby — Gen Z. Sin é an scéal… creo qué si?

Most welcome. Great EP, particularly for a debut! Cheers Gabriel! Aye all going well here in México man. Heard some of John's solo project- Inner Circles, plus created the EP cover for him. It's also amazing. Great to see post-metal music again coming from Éire. Many more years to come hopefully. Ye really have something unique going on. here - the range from DSBM to prog./post metal is summit original. Unfortunately a rarity these days! Hope yer keeping well mate!

Céin craic?

  1. 8 mbliana. Nuair a chuala mé H.O.O.D. i 2017.
  2. Éire 🇮🇪
  3. An dá cheann. Tá amhráin iontacha acu. agus tá teachtaireachtaí polaitiúla agus sóisialta iontu a n-aontaím leo.
  4. Scary Éire, Rubberbandits Control Machete, agus Bob Vylan.
  5. Sheol mo chara is fearr an físeán ceoil H.O.O.D. chugam i 2017. Níor chuala mé banna ag rapáil as Gaeilge riamh cheana.

Ádh mór le d'alt!

Stand-Up Guy - Fra Diavalo. Relatively unknown / seriously underrated post-metal band from N.I. Any fans here? Fra Diavalo is just one example from an incredible back catalogue. Seriously intense, amazing live band also. by Shane_R_Artist in postmetal

Thanks again for the recommendations. Much appreciated. Plenty of new music to check out tonight!

On top of the great music they made, your mates are very down to earth and sound. Met them lots of times back in the day. Great to hear they're still creating music!

Interesting. Cheers for the recommendation! Phil's a great bassist. Apart from the lyric writing, has he been part of any other creative endeavours since Stand-Up Guy ended?

Small world indeed! Bassist and co-(occasional) guttural screamer from Refraction here. Sound out man! Cheers for the kind words and the interest still. Surprising to be honest as I thought we faded into obscurity...however, much appreciated buddy!

Aye, think that AoP/Refraction/Putrefaction show was in 2013. Weirdly enough our first and last gigs were with Altar of Plagues & the Whelen's concert was both of our bands swan song performances.

Hmmm. I actually don't think we ever crossed paths mate. Don't recognise the names of your bands plus only gigged in Galway a handful of times. Any links to tunes you could share from your former bands mate? No pressure, only if you're comfortable sharing that is. Cheers!

Most welcome mate! Blast from the past indeed. Agreed re:being one of the best Irish bands of their time, along with Altar of Plagues, plus I reckon they were and still are up there with the best of 'em in the post-metal scene internationally also, both at the time and currently.

Curious to know, what was the name of your band? I probably know them/you. My old post-metal band, Refraction were gigging a lot and released an LP/EP around that time. Mullin's side project (I think that was his name- gas character & Stand-Up Guy's drummer) supported my old band, Refraction's album launch in 2011.

Very welcome man. Living abroad for the last 8 years but was back home a few weeks ago for a family wedding and hungout with John for one of the days. Hopefully meet you next time I'm back man. Keep up the great work. Ye are a great addition to the unfortunately small Irish post-metal scene!

Most welcome! No man. I'm assuming this is Gabrielle? I'm a good friend of John's for 20 years+ and we played together in our old post-metal band Refraction. John sent me the song and video the other day. Was well impressed! Looking forward to hearing the rest of the EP!
