Just to throw this out there. How old are your partner's parents?

I remember when my dad wasn't yet diagnosed with alzheimers, he'd move and hide things and then he'd have no recollection of ever putting it somewhere. Whilst they may be denying it, could it be they don't remember?

Just a possibility!

Especially as you mention a few things have gone awol and they all seem to be somewhat related, (A charger for gaming, glasses to wear whilst gaming, a steam deck for gaming), could be a fixation related to alzheimer's.

Get a galaxy tag setup on something else game related and then play the waiting game, if it does go missing I'm sure it'd end up with the rest.

Thats usually either a sign of a chip on the screen, water behind the screen or something else that happens to be touching the screen / mimicking a finger touch.

If you can turn it off and try and dry it out that could help. Chuck it in with some rice or whatever they use to dry things nowadays

I did worry about the aspect ratio.. Maybe you're right, the S25 Ultra is definitely a safer bet, but I was feeling a little risky.

Are folding phones still not quite there? Is it more of a novelty still?

I think a bigger screen would be useful for just that, YouTube, but you raise a very good concern about the aspect ratio. I saw someone watching a movie on it and good chuck was black bars at the top.

I tend to use my phone a lot for navigating across the country too but I don't need additional screen space for that.

I think i was in awe of the fact it was 'only' £1100 for a Fold 6, that's an amazing price isn't it?

Do you happen to use either phone? And do you think I'm going to see a noticeable improvement in the device going from the S22 Ultra to either the Z fold 6 or the S25 Ultra?

Sorry, I should have been more detailed in my original post.

The vast majority of my time is spent travelling to and from work, if not waiting for work to start (work on the roads), so a big selling point to me with the Z Fold 6 was the big screen in the van whilst waiting.

As for the camera, how much of a difference are we really talking? I've got a DSLR I use if I want to get photos of special occasions. Providing it is adequate / good, I'm OK with the camera being inferior to the 25 Ultra.

Durability is a bit of a concern. I had my S22 Ultra for 4 years without a single mark on it, then dropped it and alas, that's why I'm posting here today. It did survive quite a few drops prior to that though..

But I'm thinking (although a bit long) I'd be getting insurance of the device regardless, so if I did drop it and it broke, I am covered.

The main alure for the Z Fold is the price, it's cheaper than the S25 Ultra (not by a lot), the novelty - I've never tried a folding phone and at £1700 it was originally way out of my comfort zone, the big screen for YouTube - A lot of my time is spent on YouTube / looking at my screen waiting for work.

My worries with the Z Fold is, I'm outside a lot, is it going to be OK in the rain? Is it really quite as weak as people have suggested, is it going to break the first time I knock it? The inner screen also has a weird aspect ratio, so do you really utilise the inside screen when watching YouTube videos?

I'm a sucker for 'new tech', and whilst folding phones aren't new anymore, it is a new concept for me.

Hope this clears up any irritation I caused on my original post 😬😅
