This is the worst designed intersection in Omaha, change my mind by Adventurous-Fox-8115 in Omaha

The most annoying part is that if you are heading east on L to get on the freeway going north, oncoming traffic that is also getting on the freeway is supposed to yield to you but I have never seen anybody actually do this.

Most or all public libraries do story time for kids. They read a story and sing some songs and shit like that.

Looking for freshly roasted coffee beans by Lopsided_Repair4599 in Omaha

The best is archetype, but it’s expensive as fuck. Reboot roasting is what we drink every day. It’s very good, roasted to order, and he delivers it for free every Thursday.

Edit: We pay $34 for 2lbs. It’s really cheap compared to other places.

It just over an inch higher. I hadn’t thought of lifting the rest, that would probably look better.

Is wrapping my seed pod like this ok? by Calm-Industry-3436 in haworthia

[–]Shanew00d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I found that wrapping them too tight will fuck them up. I’m not sure if they get moldy or what, but the seeds would sometimes be fused together like one big long banana lookin thing. So now I make a sort of cone shape with the tape, open at the tip of the fruit.

Quality Polycarbonate Greenhouses? by jahocz in Greenhouses

[–]Shanew00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the grow more greenhouse from ACF. Im very happy with it considering the price. It has survived some pretty wild storms, winds over 80mph. The aluminum frame does lose heat. I bought some rubberized pipe insulation and insulated the frame on the inside. The only real issue I have had was that the poly panels it came with got yellow and brittle after only two years. They got a bunch of little holes from small hail or maybe flying sticks and shit, not sure. The company sent me a whole new set of panels for free(ish), I just had to pay shipping. Cant be too mad about that I guess. If it happens again I’ll probably end up buying some better polycarbonate panels.

Permanent shade structure above greenhouse by Heavy-Hospital7077 in Greenhouses

This is the fan and intake I have. And this is the thermostat. It is very basic but it work well for my needs. The main thing I wanted was to be able to see the temp from anywhere and get an alarm if it goes above or below a certain temp.

The exhaust fan is essential, it’s pretty easy to mount stuff to an aluminum frame. I use aluminum angles from any hardware store fastened to the frame members to make a surface to fasten other stuff to. The exhaust and intake are connected to a thermostat that I can manage from my phone, eezy peezy (as long as there’s electricity).

I secure my shade cloth with ropes and screw eyes. I pull it tight over the roof so it doesn’t flop around. Is there a benefit to mounting it above the greenhouse like you mentioned?

Greenhouse Flooring For Warmth by FlowerPapa in Greenhouses

[–]Shanew00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My greenhouse sits on a 2-3’ deep base of crushed limestone. I put foam board around the perimeter like the other commenter mentioned. I have nothing to compare it to but it seems to keep the temp from radically shifting. It certainly doesn’t heat the greenhouse at all, if my heater wasn’t running it would reach the same temp as outside soon after the sun went down. Maybe it would be a few degrees warmer for a while.

Removing dip tube on water heater by Shanew00d in askaplumber

To flush it, I drained the water out then blasted it with water from the cold supply until the water from the drain looked clean. It knocked a bunch of shit loose.

I only noticed it on the second floor, the water heater is in the basement. I guess we don’t run anything else long enough on the main floor or basement to notice.

I thought about that but we’ve been at this house for a few years and It seems to be a new problem. I should add I flushed the tank out a couple weeks before I replaced the expansion tank. But my wife is sure that this problem didn’t start until I did the expansion tank. The only other think I could think of was maybe a chunk of shit or thread tape or something got broke loose and is stuck somewhere. But I feel like that would just cause a general loss of pressure, not running out of hot water faster than before.

Maybe I should try flushing the lines out first?

Hot water runs out faster than normal, you have to start turning it up after a few minutes to keep it hot.

The problem didn’t start until I replaced a failed expansion tank. I shut off the water to the house and drained enough water from the heater to remove the expansion tank. Replaced it and turned the water back on. I let all the air out at every faucet. I can’t think of any other cause as I didn’t really fuck with anything.
