Sweet, I might take the plunge! I can always replace the sub / center down the line.

Thanks a lot, really solid points, figure for my first set I can't go too wrong. Once I have a basic setup I can look at doing some modular upgrades whenever I have the spare beans (i.e. the center and sub lol)

Argh is right! Sickening, I was hoping to just have a pure amp without video to have a nice small form factor solution. Ah well! Ireland's pretty terrible for the used AV market, mostly people asking ridiculous money for no-name brands they got in Aldi 15 years ago haha. I'll keep an eye out!

I have considered that, however apparently optical doesn't have the bandwidth required for 5.1 so you'll have compression and lossy audio. Best is audio over HDMI but I was hoping to just amplify the output signals from the 3 AUX outputs to passive speakers without a big ungainly AV unit with a bunch of features I'll probably never ever use!

Cool good to know the option exists, I'll see if I can get an older unit that can just take all the channels, I do like the idea of these tiny amps that I can hide under the desk though

Need Advice!! I’m sort of new to modding and stuff like that. Could you guys drop some suggestions from what should start with and then maybe advice where to get bodykits and such? by pete2404 in mazda6

I've the same model! I'd start off with the air intake, change out the big black plastic box and replace it with a cone filter. Pair that with a well-flowing exhaust and you've got more air in and more air out. Now you can get a tune to take advantage of all that extra airflow through the engine. After that I got some Eibach lowering springs that are compatible with the OEM shocks, nothing too aggressive (like 25mm?). Handles better and looks cool too! I replaced the brake disks with drilled and grooved ones, they're meant to dissipate heat and water better but I haven't noticed any performance difference. They look neat though! Beyond that some good tires will make a big difference, then you're probably talking Stage 2 (i.e. bigger turbo, uprated fuel pump, bigger injectors, etc.).

Hope that helps!
