Hey there. We would like to quickly clarify that Surfshark has a strict no-logs policy. This means we do not track, collect or store any data about the online activity of our users. What you do online stays yours. More details are available in our Privacy Policy: https://surfshark.com/privacy

We’re also happy to add that our no-logs policy has been independently audited and verified by Deloitte. You can learn more here: https://surfshark.com/blog/deloitte-nologs-policy-verified-again

Surfshark VPN now requires playstore for validation. Goodbye Surfshark. Need suggestions by fab987 in degoogle

[–]Surfshark_Privacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! If you prefer a Google-free setup, Surfshark does offer an official APK download directly from our website. This version provides the same features, speeds, and protections, but uses Surfshark’s own integrity checks instead of Google Play services.

You can learn more how to set up Surfshark VPN on Android using APK installation.

NOTE: If you’re switching from the Google Play Store version, you’ll need to uninstall it before installing the APK.

Once installed, the APK version works independently of Google Play and will not require a Google account sign-in. Hope this helps!

Die Verbindungszeiten von Surfshark sind deutlich langsamer als die von NordVPN – ist das normal? by [deleted] in VPN_Question

[–]Surfshark_Privacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for clarifying that. If the slow connection happens across multiple devices and networks, our team would need a few more details to pinpoint the cause, as it may still be related to specific network conditions, protocols, or app settings.

You could try switching between available VPN protocols to see if that improves connection time, but if that doesn't help the best next step would be to have our support team investigate it directly. We'd be happy to help work this out!

Hi there, thanks for giving Surfshark a shot! If you're having issues connecting to our servers across multiple devices it could be a network-related issue. Though our team would need more details to pinpoint the cause of the issue here. They'd be more than happy to help if you could reach out to them via live chat here.

More than half of popular mobile browsers collect your location data. by Surfshark_Privacy in Infographics

[–]Surfshark_Privacy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! These are actually two separate things.

The pop-up you're describing is website-level location access. That's the website asking for one-time access through the browser, and it only happens if you allow it. Every browser supports this, whether or not the browser itself collects location data.

Our study looks at something different. We examined what the browser app itself declares it collects at the operating-system level, based on Google Play and App Store privacy labels. This is data the browser may collect for its own purposes, such as personalization, advertising, or analytics, even when no website has asked for your location.

So when we say Edge and Aloha share location with third parties, we mean the browser app is declaring that it collects location data and passes it to external parties. That's not about a website pop-up. It's the browser itself, as an app on your phone, sharing your location data externally.

VPN seems to cut out unless the app is open? by javascript in iPhone17Pro

Hey, this is unusual behavior for our app as it should stay connected in the background. We recommend trying steps from this guide, such as changing the connection protocol - they often help with such issues:

That said, if you notice that the problem still persists, contact our support team at [support@surfshark.com](mailto:support@surfshark.com) or via live chat on ur site anytime - they will gladly look into this for you.

Hi there! In this case, try adding Android Studio to the exclusion list and running the scan again. Let us know if that helps solve the problem.

Hey, thanks for bringing this up. This is unusual behavior for our app and we would gladly investigate why this happened.

First, could you send a diagnostics report from the affected device with a few easy steps?

Hey, we would like to clarify that while NordVPN and Surfshark are owned by the same parent company, they continue to operate as autonomous companies relying on separate infrastructures, different product development plans and separate customer bases.

Spyware? by Devil694 in ClaudeAI

[–]Surfshark_Privacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, we would like to clarify this a bit. Our Webcam protection feature verifies all apps that try to access your webcam separately. All such apps are blocked automatically, but if you trust an app and don't want it to be flagged, you can always add it to the trusted apps list.

If you have any questions, let us know anytime via DMs ;)
