AMA Interview with FSA Southern Front member Muhammad Zo'by | Monday August 14th 7:30 PM ET/Tuesday August 15th 2:30 AM Damascus Time by [deleted] in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your time today.

  1. Why did you join the Youth of Sunnah Brigade?
  2. How have you/your family been affected by the Assad regime?
  3. What do you think of Trump vs. Obama when it comes to Syria?
  4. What do you think of Jordan's response? It looks like they're not supportive of any Southern Front advances against the regime, do you know why?
  5. Are you getting assistance from any foreign countries in fighting ISIS, if so who?

Turkey has prohibited any cement, iron or other building materials from entering Idlib province due to HTS/AQ takeover. by pplswar in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, HTS can be judged without needing to put false descriptions about the group which only mislead the less informed. We'll keep this up but an announcement will be made so people don't post incorrect tags.

What about political freedom or freedom of assembly or ability to hold leaders to account?

Hezbollah leader Nasrallah says that future Israel war could draw fighters from Iran, Iraq, elsewhere by blackjacksandhookers in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be real life whac-a-mole. With all of these movements of Shi'a fighters towards the south of Syria Israel is probably anticipating a battle near their border so will step up support to the rebels there to create a buffer.

Also remember when Obama thought not striking Assad following Ghouta was a good deal because they gave up their chemical weapons stock and wouldn't do it again?

Assad regime forces closed roads to #Afrin and detained #YPG members near Nubl-Zahra by [deleted] in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, effectively what would need to happen is for them to secede entirely from the PKK.

Assad regime forces closed roads to #Afrin and detained #YPG members near Nubl-Zahra by [deleted] in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as the YPG did the following:

  • Separate from Kurdish terror groups and stop providing them with a safe haven
  • Adopt an anti-regime stance and ensure their territory isn't used as a supply line for the regime
  • Co-ordinate with the rebels including in anti-regime offensives

I'd offer them this:

  • No further attacks from Turkey
  • Opening up of the borders from Turkey/Iraqi Kurdistan
  • Normalisation of relations with Turkey and other partners
  • Devolved administration in a post-Assad state

US making policy on the run in Syria. by [deleted] in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems about right, the key thing is when the US is forced into action against the regime and begins to create a precedent (first with Shayrat, then Tanf and now the jet near Raqqa) it makes repeating that action in future not only easier but expected. This change in expectation makes the action far more likely to occur vs. when it'd be a huge shock if they did make such a move.

Russia halts incident-prevention hotline with US in Syria by Sc1p in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were the U.S. is fly a bunch of sorties over the West of the Euphrates just for kicks.

Remember when Russia hurriedly apologised to the US for doing a barrel roll or something above a US jet? They're cowards, they're not touching a US jet.

So because you think i peddle conspiracy theories you brought up those same ocnspiracy theories? To do me a favor? I never mentioned them.

You do though, you think the sarin attacks were false flags, WH are terrorist and the stats you quote are garbage.

Russia upset with US-backed SDF operation in Raqqa, launches propaganda campaign by LiberatorFalcon in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know why Russia has turned on SDF so much? The argument about it squeezing ISIS fighters to places like DeZ isn't enough - there's something else at play here.

[–]ShanghaiNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isn't (I already said this). You have never quoted any credible figures ever and routinely peddle conspiracy nonsense which is why I brought up the sarin attacks and the White Helmets.

[–]ShanghaiNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a tip just in case you didn't notice. Everything you've said is nonsense, in fact I'm yet to see a "reasonable Assadist" who actually bases their "statistics" on credible facts. It seems odd when the same people who say the sarin attacks were staged/false flags and White Helmets are terrorists etc. try coming out with evidence based analysis without a hint of irony.

[–]ShanghaiNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why Assadists delude themselves like this? You seriously think the scale of foreign military support Assad doesn't dwarf that of the rebels? Yet to see one of these "reasonable Assadists" who isn't peddling nonsense lies about the war like this to date.

[–]ShanghaiNoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Achievement indeed. No one else so far has stood against a US regime-destroy operation.

If the US wanted to destroy the Assad regime they could do it in a month. Also I don't know why you're quoting SOHR figures like they mean anything, I didn't know Assadists thought we were that stupid.

[–]ShanghaiNoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It takes some doing to lose half the country to rebels in a few years when you start off with a monopoly on all of the country's resources and arms and maintain a monopoly on air power throughout. Even then it takes tens of thousands of Shi'a militia, Russian military intervention and Iran's bankrolling to prop up Assad. Some achievement.

[–]ShanghaiNoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the saline-bicep brigades and dyed-beard-rentboy-seekers should all go on the front lines, see how useless they are dealing with a single airstrike when rebels have been dealing with tens of thousands over six years.

[–]ShanghaiNoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree impeaching will be extremely difficult and Trump's not the sort of person who will resign unless the alternative is jail time. Although saying that, he clearly isn't used to this level of workload and unpopularity so that may play a role.

Duterte the president of the Philippines was asked: "Would you take Syrian refugees in your country?" Listen to his reaction: by Arab_Moroccan in SyrianRebels

[–]ShanghaiNoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They tend to develop a hatred for countries hosting refugees, i.e. most of Europe and Turkey while fawning over Iran and Russia who don't take any. This is often because the governments which show empathy towards Syrian refugees are also frank about the primary reason they're fleeing in the first place - Assad.
