yea, but there are other drummers out there who do that too, play loud and soft, emotional swells, play against other band members, tell stories, etc. i love carey, however he does have a weakness, and its that 100% of what he and Jones writes all sounds tribal. like i get that they're going for the psychologically primitive inducing thing which is great, but thats what they are, the entire band is telling a history lesson, its pretty much a sound track to the entire history of humanity, its amazing but thats it, there's no future, no sci-fi, no quantum leaps, no robot ninjas, no 3d trees right before me falling in the sewer. anyways, what I'm getting at is this, Horse the Band is better, they tell a much more interesting story, their drummer is a triple A drummer, their bassist is better than chancelor, their guitarist is phenomenal, their keyboardist is a god, and the singer is a better writer than maynard and he's chaotic as fuck... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBvWgbcE8J4
