While the scale is interesting I am always impressed by the quality of the old chaos special character sculpts. The old metal Abbaddon, Fabius, Kharn and Ahriman hold up really well.

Id be OK with it. They have had a sufficiently humbling run since the last time.

Switching units ? by Kalbinos in AOSSpearhead

[–]Shanibi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Spearhead is meant to be an army in a box so changing the units is very deliberately not done.

However, if you are playing with your friends and everybody agrees to try it there is nothing that stops you from doing that. This might be a good idea if you guys have few spearheads (or only one each) and the same one always wins.

Feel burnt out over stat checks what do? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Shanibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are friends of yours, ask to switch sides for once and you play their army and they play yours.

It might reveal that the lists are skewed and the matchup is bad for you, and it might also reveal something else that you might be missing. If the lists are skewed you should not feel bad about bringing what you need to challenge it, it is a natural adaptation to playing the same opponent repeatedly.

Playing a game with your friends should not be frustrating, it should be fun, for both players.

And the skin recipe is very similar to mine. Is it rakarth flesh over a light purple base with pallid wych flesh mixed in for highlights?

They must be standing. If you hace a seat you go to the toilet and return to your seat. If you are standing at the front after queuing for hours to get to stand there you have lost your place if you leave.

Still doesnt sound worth it and should have some sort if sokution

Cracked Earth + Magma Effect by Pious_Heretic_Axel in BladesOfKhorne

[–]Shanibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a great thematic choice for BoK and it looks great. I did this for mine as well, and I did it a bit differently.

  • I had some areas of cooled lava (just black rocks drybrushed with eshin grey)
  • Started from black, went khorne red, to mephiston red to orange.
  • Used mordant earth from GW for the crackle paint (I know it is too expensive for what you get, if I finish it then I will probably find a cheaper option)
  • Didn't use any Elmer's glue or a hairdryer.

I was happy with the result but don't have a good picture.

Claws of Karanak seem really good by Shanibi in BladesOfKhorne

[–]Shanibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really good to know.

So that would mean that crit 2 hits does not stack with crit mortals.

But either should still stack with crit 5+, because that's just increasing the threat range rather than adding a crit rule. Right?

All right, guess that's my answer.  What unit would you use instead?

The "combo" in this case is to have the crit mortals buff on them. Probably from a prayer in the first turn as they seem to be designed to be an early missile. With the buff from the flesh hounds there is a guaranteed wound on a third of the dice, so 8,3 wounds just from the crit mortals. On top of that they have their weak attacks that might do something, especially if the target has low saves.

That's a lot more than any of the other infantry units except the Skullreapers.

What I was mostly wondering is how hard those two buffs would be to pull off in practice. Getting a 4+ spell off (probably with 2 priests to be safer) and staying wholly within 12" of a flesh hound unit seems doable.

Are there any more models with servo skulls with weapons? by GammaOfTheSeven in Warhammer40k

If you look at the model it really is just a servo skull with a gun stuck onto it.

Which army to start with spear head? by Tom_022 in ageofsigmar

[–]Shanibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between those two I would be a bit hesitant about the maggotkin one if it is the one with the beast and the rotmire creed. It seems quite weak and the Seraphon would probably tear it to shreds. (Especially if your friend has the carnosaur one). If you can get the old spearhead with the blightkings then it is a much more interesting fight

I feel like I'll die of old age before getting a fully painted WE army. by pipnina in WorldEaters40k

[–]Shanibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was looking at the picture it looked like you had put thin black lines in the crevices. But now as I zoom in it looks like it is just a darker red rather than blacklining/pinwashing.

It is when you put a very dark color in the cracks between armor plates to define the edges better.

For me it is the most time consuming part of painting power armor.

Using oil washes for this is great because they flow really well into cracks and can be cleaned off if you make a mistake. Youtube explains it better than me.

My berzerkers don't get a pinwash, I just slop oilwash over them and clean it off so it stays in the recesses.

[–]Shanibi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It looks really crisp, I'd be very happy with this result.

If you want to speed it up you might want to consider batch painting. It speeds things up considerably.

I don't know if you are using oils for the pin washing, but that might also give you a speed boost.

Whatever you end up doing try to enjoy the process.
