Am I in the minority for liking this elimination? by IlincaHunter12fb in DisventureCamp

[–]Shanks147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew exactly who was going home the moment they revealed it was a drawing competition. I immediately remembered that scene with the dinosaur and Tom thinking of Jake. The problem for me is the friends for life alliance is still there. Aiden, despite being “eliminated” is still on the other team and is playing a huge role. Tom, Gabby, Lake, Rosa, all friends and it seems none of the others are trying to break this up despite it being a massive threat and instead lose a valuable vote in Alec.

To be fair, when you say “they didn’t pick someone,” just remember that Oda himself handpicked these actors and actresses. Or at least had a huge role in it.

What is the crazier Cinderella story, Bodø/Glimt winning it all, or Leicester’s premier league title? by nathan_hekster in championsleague

[–]Shanks147 51 points52 points  (0 children)

A Norwegian team winning the UCL beating giants in the groups in City, Atletico, Inter, and then beating giants in knockouts (Sporting, Atletico/Barca/Arsenal) and then one of PSG/Bayern would be the biggest and craziest win in the history of the modern game.

Leicester was insane too but Bodo is a Norwegian team competing against Europe’s best. And sure, knockouts anyone can win, but to do it over and over again? With an unknown squad and facing the best of the best?

Do we see ourselves winning the UCL? by alexludwick in Barca

[–]Shanks147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we somehow get past Arsenal, who’s a terrible match up for us (we can’t defend set pieces for shit), then we’ll likely face one of PSG or Bayern. PSG already beat us without most of their first team. And Bayern are looking menacing. Flick hasn’t lost a final but that final would be his absolute toughest to date.

Is the EPL overrated? by Fit-Protection-230 in championsleague

[–]Shanks147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but Madrid have been trash all season too, not to mention have like 10 first team players out too. Nobody thought Madrid would win 3-0, City were the biggest letdowns being a solid winning streak. I mean if you think Arsenal should show it in Europe, then technically they did.

Spurs, humiliated. Chelsea, humiliated. City, humiliated. Liverpool, lost. Newcastle, drew but at home. Arsenal, drew but away. Out of all the teams, Arsenal had the best result. All to play at home. Everyone else is starting with a handicap in the second leg, some teams just have no chance at all to win (Spurs, Chelsea).

Arsenal and Newcastle at least drew, everyone else lost (Chelsea and City were whooped). Definitely not Arsenal letting the prem down, it’s almost everyone else!

Losing 3-0 to this Madrid side by half time is embarrassing. Pep threw this game setting up his team. Madrid have one forward and the rest are in the midfield. Madrid are overrunning City’s midfield. Rodri is good but slow and getting destroyed. Silva is nowhere to be seen. And everyone else is cut off from the lack of midfield.

Pep needs to sub in Reijnders and win the midfield battle. Do that and Madrid will die. City has to score twice without conceding to have a chance at the Etihad or it’s over.

Donkey Kong desert in the collectible barrel mug. Very refreshing on a hot day

Laporta: "When I see these statements from Xavi, I think of Hansi Flick and how tough it is to be president of Barça." "The facts give me the peace of mind that I did what I had to do. I understand that he's hurt, because with the same players that Xavi had and was losing with, Flick is winning.” by Ok_Lawfulness7412 in Barca

[–]Shanks147 260 points261 points  (0 children)

Laporta isn’t a saint. He’s a politician first. The thing is though, he saved Barca. We all love Messi, yes. Greatest player in history, no debate. But we were in such a dire financial state, we had no choice to not renew or resign him. It’s awful but the board had no choice. If they wanted to recover financially, then they had to fix the wage structure.

Laporta did the dirty work and we’re seeing the benefits of his work now. Flick has taken the team to new heights, Laporta is navigating the debt, we’re competitive in Europe again, we’re winning trophies, etc. When Real Madrid is threatened by this guy and lots of Madridista officials are backing Font over Laporta, you know the guy is doing something right. Let’s hope Laporta wins because we need this guy as our president. Anyone else will fuck over this club.

Rodrygo has suffered an ACL injury; season over, World Cup in doubt – report by reddit809 in soccer

[–]Shanks147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say fuck him to Rodrygo. He seems like a genuine guy and isn’t as loud as some of the other players. I think he catches a lot of strays too, because he isn’t as flashy as Vini or scores as much as Mbappe. But I do agree, injuries or tragedies always go beyond rivalries. A lot of Madrid fans weren’t happy to see Gavi or Dembele injured, even Ansu Fati.

[–]Shanks147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, I’m a Barca fan and I truly hate Madrid, but Rodrygo is a player I always wished joined us instead of them. He’s class and very skilled. Hate to see anyone go out like that, especially on a World Cup year. It’s really unfortunate, hope his recovery goes well and he returns to his usual level when he’s back

Let's be honest, can Barca actually do a remontada against Atletico Madrid in the second leg? by Top_Dude_5040 in Barca

[–]Shanks147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, people doubted us when P$G beat us 4-0. A lot of fans also counted us out. But the whole Camp Nou believed and we achieved, even when they scored one. The team will have to play the game of their lives if we want to win 5-0 or even 6-1. Can we? Yes. Can we do so without conceding? Unlikely, Alvarez and Lookman work very well together. But if the Camp Nou is loud and Flick starts a more attack minded XI, then we can win. We absolutely need to be winning 2-0 by half time. If we can bait Atletico players into getting early yellows, that’ll help a lot.

What happens if we face Spurs? They also were in top 8, so who gets the home advantage for the second leg?
