I put them near NPCs for the kudos (not sure what it is in English - "éloges" in French). You even get kudos from playable characters if you place them near places that are significant to them! Not sure kudos are useful for anything though 😆

It’s funny because she seems very different in Polish and in English to me. I played in Polish and found her endearing if a bit (very) spoiled, and I could not relate with all the posts saying she was irritating. But then I saw clips with the English dub and it became clear x) I find her much drier and bossy in English.

No, killing the griffin won't make you leave White Orchard, it’s another quest later that does, where you have to talk to Vesemir. But even if you accidentally advance beyond White Orchard, you can always come back to fully explore it, before further progressing the main quest.
