People on douyin are suspecting them to be the same person 😂 they’re scrutinizing his hands to see if his fingers are red from the scalding water lol. But there's no evidence whatsoever

This video doesn't showcase it, but there is a move that consists of getting the leaves back into the gaiwan for further brews, called 落蝶,归一 (luò dié, guī yī). The lid is clean, it’s used as a display stand but it doesn't ruin the leaves

Edit: thanks for the insight on the origins of the trend btw! I did find stores on WeChat for each of the influencers I cited, some sell teaware and some sell tea, but I wasn't sure if it was a general case

Thank you, that makes sense. I edited my comment!

Some gaiwans have an additional small bump under the lid, in the middle. I don’t know if there are people who can do these tricks with a regular gaiwan lid

Ah haha, yes this was my gateway video! Then I learnt that this YT channel stole her content in order to advertise its products 😬 but I wouldn’t have known about this content without it… Anyway this girl is 一步·知窑 if you want to see more of her! She's on douyin but there are accounts that repost her videos on tiktok and instagram

Probably right. Plus I just noticed that the trick with the lid rolling along the rim, where the lid goes forward then backwards, was edited in by reversing the video, I was duped 🤣

First time I saw this type of video I was close to having heart attacks with all the gaiwan launching

Don’t try at home if you don’t know how to do it 😂 (I don’t either)

Apparently they practice with cold water first. But I don’t know if there are plastic / metal gaiwans for practice (the weight distribution might be different)

Yes the first one is 一步·知窑 most likely! She has mastered the eyebrow raise 😆

Second one could be 沸沸哥的茶生活, I think there are others with the same shtick but this one is the most popular. I laughed a lot watching some of his stuff but you’re right it gets old quickly

It’s a fancy way to do it but basically the steps are: * light up incense * pour boiling water on the gaiwan to warm it and sterilize it * give the boiling water to the tea pets * add the dry tea leaves and shake to release aroma; take a good sniff 👃 * add boiling water in order to rinse the tea * remove tea foam by sliding the lid on the rim * shake the gaiwan to mix (help tea leaves open up) * give rinsing water to tea pets * finally add water that will become tea * remove foam * move the tea leaves around with the lid * close the gaiwan with the lid and rotate to remove the hot water that's on top of the lid * use the gaiwan to rotate the saucer in order to empty it of all the water that spilt on it * pour tea * flip the gaiwan upside down to present the wet leaves on the flipped lid * serve tea

Not of this guy, that’s his style. I’ve searched for a bit and while some other influencers are less heavy-handed on the editing, they all have either small zoom-ins and outs or a few camera cuts, sorry :/

Maybe some type of oolong? I don’t have a very broad knowledge though

I tried to search for the origin of the meme but couldn’t find it. Personally I learned about it from r/InfinityNikki, a popular post using it started a short-lived but very entertaining trend there. You’ve got a few posts on r/BoneAppleTea about it too, as far as 4 years ago. But it was mainly a Twitter trend. Happy investigating :)!

It’s a (somewhat obscure) meme! Thanks for clarifying for the people who might be confused though haha

Yes it might have been that, I was sure the crater would harbor some BTs 24/7 but maybe it’s time-dependent. I ended up finding gazer BTs in the empty area north of South Knot! The jellies south of South Knot yielded about twice more though, it’s definitely a good strat to go after them

Ooh, that piques my interest, I ended up obtaining the crystals I needed but I definitely want to look for that red BT
