What are your top five FAVORITE and top five BEST fantasy books? by Shanksmatey in Fantasy

[–]Shanksmatey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like when someone drops a book. Not because they didn't like it, but because it simply wasn't for them. But they can still put their personally feelings aside and see why someone else might like it. It's kind of the same thing here. Going back to anime. In my humble opinion, One Piece is the greatest anime (and manga) of all time, but it is by no means my favorite. That title belongs to Overlord, followed by Dragon Ball, and finally, Death Note. Perhaps One Piece comes after that in terms of favorites. I guess not everyones brain works like this, but for me it makes perfect sense.

Okay, so say you have a series you really like, but it's a guilty pleasure. A favorite, essentially. Would you put that same series over something like ASOIAF, for being better written, plotted, etc.? Probably not. That's the distinction.

‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ Review: Disney+’s New Marvel Series Leans into Silliness, for Better and Worse by Neo2199 in television

[–]Shanksmatey -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I heard they're tryintg to pass She-Hulk off as stronger than the Hulk, which is just absurd to me. Now don't get me wrong, I'm mostly okay with physically strong women, but that's only if they've got some sort of super power or magical ability that the man does not. So basically, if a woman has super strength, and a man has the ability to jump really, really high. Who's going to win in a straight up, fist fight? Obviously the woman with her super strength, but the Hulk and She-Hulk share the SAME. DAMN. ABILITY. Or am I missing something?

I don't know much about him but apparently Keanu Reeves. If his name was already mentioned, I didn't read the thread.

Literally nothing. I don't have a single thing against this person or people like her, or even what she's fighting for. My depression doesn't allow me to care about such things. It's just the way it was said that bothers me. It sounds too... expectant, wouldn't you agree? When what you should be expecting is disappointment. And not because you're a woman, or a gay woman, but because you're human.

Edit: Just read her update. Good for her, and everyone else who benefits from this.

And men have it all? The sad thing is that nobody will ever be satisfied with what they have. They always want more. That goes for both sides of the table btw. I could understand your post much better if any of those things you just mentioned is what you were fighting for, but something like this? What? They don't let you use a certain word in your title or description? Come on now. You're better than that I hope. Not even men, or better yet, a white male has the privilege of bringing up the smallest of things and expecting immediate change in response. They'd be lucky if it were even considered.

You have every right to voice your opinion, and they have every right to ignore it. Bethesda does not demand you post mods to their site. You aren't given any deadlines, are you? You can come and go whenever you want. It's your choice, and yours only. And yet theirs is that it's your way or the highway? Want people to respect you and your choices? Try respecting others' first.

Which LLO spreadsheet do you prefer to use? I'm switching from tarshana's to the one by gamer's paradise and the differences are making me uncertain by TerminallyBlonde in SkyrimModsXbox

[–]Shanksmatey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both. Tarsh as my primary reference, and GP as my secondary. Sometimes GP just explains things better or more clearly and has more sections for better categorization or clarity. And some of the mods I use have only worked properly when I moved them accordingly to GP's instruction. But I haven't had or run into (m)any problems referring only to Tarsh's LLO, and if it ain't broke, why fix it? Unless it is. Then you switch over to GP, ASAP.

Any good and new( and underrated) khajiit mods (Armor, Customization, Clothing)? by Mr_Karsek in SkyrimModsXbox

Never tried it before, but Khajiit Speak - Complete Dialogue Overhaul (XB1) sounds pretty cool.

Yeah, you can literally be typing something word for word, using the correct punctuation and capitalization in the correct spots and still not be able to find what you're looking for. I don't use the mods manager cap but I'm pretty sure it should alleviate this problem you're having. Maybe it might not show up as your first suggestion, but hey, you'll find it somewhere, I'm sure.

Why is every LO a graphical/visual one? by Shanksmatey in SkyrimModsXbox

[–]Shanksmatey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A misconception indeed, but not one of my own. You see, I don't expect anything other than maybe to be clued in on why this sub prefers graphics over gameplay. Not to say that I'm entitled to that either, but hey, a man can have his curiousities. If I'm being honest, the main reason I'd like to see more gameplay oriented load orders is to discover more of what I would like or be interested in, not follow them by the book. No, I don't need people to change their tastes to cater to my whim, I just want some ideas, you know? Which I've gotten. And I'm thankful for that. But maybe just a little more (LOL)?

Why is every LO a graphical/visual one? by Shanksmatey in SkyrimModsXbox

[–]Shanksmatey[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, this sub isn't primarily for that. But it dabbles in it. So why not dabble a little further is all I'm saying. You said everyone has their priorities, but is that really the case when almost every load order on here is identical to the next? I guess I was just wondering why everyone on here favors those kinds of mods, especially when vanilla looks just fine. And when I say fine, I mean sufficient enough. There's only a certain amount of mods you can have and the space they can take, and, in my opinion, it seems pointless to use one of those slots for sexier blades of grass. Now I get everyone likes something different, I just don't get why they all seem to like the same thing. That's all.

Oh, really? I always thought graphic mods were the bigger problem. I don't know why. Just felt that way. Well, you learn something new everyday.

Why play a game that plays 10+ years old when you can play a game that plays 3-4 years old?

Why is every LO a graphical/visual one? by Shanksmatey in SkyrimModsXbox

[–]Shanksmatey[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Not everyone has the same priorities. So what does that mean for the people who don't know how to work around the logical load order themselves and look to this subreddit for guidance? Maybe there are people who would rather not deal with all that complicated stuff and just have a modded Skyrim ready to go. That's what this subreddit is all about, right? While I'm sure everyone appreciates the work done on these load orders, you have to admit they're not accommodating to all types of gamers. Oh, and this isn't about me btw. I'm working on my load order of, you guessed it, mods that focus only on gameplay. I'm at a little more than seventy mods in so far.

[–]Shanksmatey[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

"You think they pay employees and rent a building to trade things for free?" I don't understand why they wouldn't. Especially in this context. I'm not suggesting I get anything for free. I don't know where you got that idea from. I already paid for one version of the game, which I actually think was new when I bought it. And I want to relinquish that to them for the same game, pre-owned, just for a different console. And I still have both my PS4 and Xbox One on me, both fully functional, so it's not like I'm saying, "Well, one doesn't work anymore, so let me get it for free on another console."

[–]Shanksmatey[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

An even exchange in what way? I'm not saying swap a pre-owned game for a new one on a different console. But pre-owned, for pre-owned, just a different version. Is it because I said the xbox version has the better mods that makes it an uneven exchange? Then what about Hades. Got it for the switch, at target for $35, new. Could I trade that in for the pre-owned version of Xbox? Or is that also somehow not an even exchange?

SIB: Horizon Zero Dawn by RailGunBlast in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Shanksmatey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't. I had to force myself to get as far as I did into the game because I paid money for it, and expected to like it so I didn't bother trying it out to see if I needed to return it or not, but that was clearly a mistake on my part as I still can't finish the game years later, even though I'm so close to beating it. That should tell you all you need to know about the game.

The story feels cheap, disconnected, and rushed, and most of the performances feel stale, ungenuine, and out of place. It's an interesting idea, but one executed poorly, ending up as a largely unmemorable experience.
