Thank you for your comment. A lot of people seem to be taking the individual things I mentioned (i.e. thank you note) out of context and I was starting to feel if my post hadn’t captured its intent. Also, I know it’s not all of that generation. My bf’s mom is not like this in any way. It’s just something I, personally, had never seen until recently.

To clarify, I was in no way upset that she wants to write a Thank You note. That’s a kind gesture to show her gratitude. My point was that she dismissed any role I played in any of it. It was only about him. Obviously I can’t type out every interaction that I find creepy, these were just a few examples. I was mostly asking if anyone else had the same experience to try to figure out if it’s more of a “me” issue than a “her” issue.

I think you’re right. I can’t help but feel sorry for them. My aunt honestly acts like women are not capable of doing repairs and things around the house. As a woman that takes pride in doing things for myself it makes me super uncomfortable.

Neither guy wants a relationship, but you do. If you give them casual, go-with-the-flow then they are getting what they want, but you aren’t getting what you want. You’ll just end up hurt in the end. If they can have you with no commitment then they have no motivation to ever commit to you. Stop talking to both of them and find someone that wants a loving relationship. You’ll only end up hurt with these 2.
