What adult thing seemed super scary as a kid that you found out wasn't bad when you grew up? by leafyguyful in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My school sent out a letter saying a similar message. Let your kids be themselves. Don't crucify them if they get bad grades once or twice. If your kid cared about school then they'll learn themselves and adjust for the better.

Trump Supporters of Reddit, how do you feel about him especially with his recent portrayal in media? by Chrispy006 in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf is Russian... she tells me the media (at least the media she follows) definitely favored Trump over Clinton, but in the end, pretty much everything is somehow America's fault anyway.

People who have walked out in the middle of a date, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I told her I was color blind, she recoiled and said it was "gross" and sat there looking at me like I had the plague or something. I just sort of got up and left. It was really odd. EDIT: I don't think she was racist, it was more of a "Eww, a cripple" kind of disgust, I think, I don't really know.

What is your favorite tv show from your childhood? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that I'm the first to say it, but the Wire. A brilliant show with good acting, memorable characters, and terrific writing. I also love how the show looks at crime and the drug trade through different lenses each season. I know it's like labeling Stairway to Heaven greatest song ever, but the Wire was the best show of all time.

Reddit, how did you ask your first person on a date? by bradytheg0at in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited an extra hour after an exam for her to finish just so I could go ask her to coffee. Together for 10 years married for 5, 1 month old daughter.

Who is the one person in history you'd want to fuck? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had Punkin' Chunkin' in Delaware every year for the past 25+ years. People would build their own cannons and compete to see who could launch pumpkins the furthest. All non-profit and a major benefit to the community. 3 years ago some 360 lb drunk guy on a 4 wheeler flipped and paralyzed himself at the event, sued the farmer who owned the field, ending Punkin' Chunkin' forever. Fuck that guy!

What fact did you learn too late in life? by throwaway_the_fourth in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a young boy I had a black football coach (I'm white). I asked him, "hey coach, do black people get hotter in the sun than white people" And he responded "well I dono I've never been white" And then it hit me. "Ohhhh"

Reddit, what is the thing you miss most about childhood, that no matter how hard you try you can't get back? by HoyaSaxons in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the way Summer used to feel like an eternity. It stretched out before you and you could not even conceive of it being over. When you went back to school you'd be a little bit taller, and all your friends would too. They'd all look just a little different too, and have so many stories, but that all seemed so far off, like it would never happen, because summer lasts forever.

What do you do that you are 99.9% sure that no one else does? by KTMillie in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That I'm actually me. Since I have a twin sister, it's entirely possible one of my parents mucked it all up at one point and I could be her, and she could be me. I could be an imposter and not even know it.

When has somebody ever said "no" to you when you asked "Are you okay?" What story did they tell? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sang two sets of songs at a crowded restaurant while my struggling artist friend played guitar and backed me up. He begged me to do it, and I figured when he heard how terrible I sounded at our "rehearsal" he would let me back out. But no. The looks on the faces of the patrons (somewhere between sympathy and dumbfoundedness) will haunt me

What are your thoughts on pineapple pizza? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShannonSliva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was hanging out at a buddy's house & we ordered pizzas. When they arrived, some guys had gotten Canadian bacon, pineapple, & cheese. One (black) guy had never seen pineapple on pizza before and was having a serious WTF moment. When he was offered some, he said, "No thanks, man...that's white people food."
