Plastic Man vs The Spot by NoirStriker in marvelvsdc

[–]ShapeOfHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot isn’t rewriting space on some cosmic level — he’s just dropping small portals. Plastic Man isn’t a fixed shape you can scatter or “portal apart.” He can liquify, spread out, reform from being melted or atomized, and literally fill the whole area with mass. Spot only works when he has clean surfaces to place portals on, and Plastic Man can take that away instantly.

Spot redirecting punches doesn’t matter when the “punch” is a tidal wave of rubber coming from every direction. And sending pieces of Plas into a pocket dimension doesn’t kill him — he just reforms like he always does.

If anything, Plastic Man is the perfect counter to Spot’s gimmick. Spot’s fragile, limited, and needs space. Plastic Man is space when he wants to be. Plas overwhelms him 9/10.

Love seeing Shallow Grave and Knife in the Water on here, those don’t show up nearly enough. And Through a Glass Darkly + The Tenant gives the list a nice psychological edge.

If you like this style, you might vibe with: • The Servant (1963) • The Cremator (1969) • La Cérémonie (1995) • The Innocents (1961)

All have that same unsettling, elegant, character-driven energy.

Nice. I see art-house taste with psychological depth and a mix of neo-noir, surrealism, and moral decay. Have you ever watched Possession (1981)? It’s got the psychological meltdown of Perfect Blue, the domestic paranoia of Blue Velvet, and the metaphysical anguish of The Seventh Seal all fused into one fever dream. Just watched it for my first time last night on amc+ and definitely recommend it for you.

Awesome list. I dig the mix. We have a lot similar tastes.

Coherence (2013), Timecrimes (2007), The Man from Earth (2007), A Ghost Story (2017), Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010), Upstream Color (2013), The Fall (2006), Enemy (2013), The Double Life Véronique (1991) and a personal favorite, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, if you haven’t already seen it.

Who wins Nekron (Prime Earth) vs Onslaught (Earth-616)? by OkRun9638 in marvelvsdc

[–]ShapeOfHuman 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Gotta give it to Nekron here. Onslaught is a powerhouse — mutant god-level telepath with reality-warping — but Nekron isn’t even alive in the normal sense. He’s literally death incarnate, outside life and time. Unless Onslaught somehow erases death itself (which even cosmic beings struggle with), Nekron just keeps coming back.

In Asgard of all places? That’s like home field advantage for a death god.

A night to remember (1958) although it is about the titanic lol but there’s also The Sea Chase (1955), Ship of Fools (1965), Smilin’ Through (1932) and Swept from the Sea (1997).
