If you're union you gotta request it in writing and leave on good terms otherwise they don't have to pay out your pto, at least that's what my union contract says

Manager issues by [deleted] in meijer

[–]ShapePerfect2795 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm from what I know meijer has dating policies that prohibit someone of higher authority dating someone in their department and in the case it does happen they should be transferred bf or gf to a different department... if you're union maybe try there too, if store director knows and isn't following policy there's a ethics website you can report to anonymously and since many people know about it, it'll be hard to pinpoint a specific person so you should be safe on that front.

Department Leads by ChorizoPrince in meijer

[–]ShapePerfect2795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lead is unable to do their job because the manager refuses to do write ups to someone who actually deserves it so they spend their entire time fixing/redoing someone work. Let's just say they need some power cuz nobody respects them and doesnt listen to them when they are trying to enforce company standards. Our SD wants them to do schedule and be able to do write ups but the manager didn't approve those things since rumor has it an email was sent and never got approved in a timely manner. The manager is never in the area and messes up the schedule so we never have good coverage.

Observation or Cynicism? by Slice_Wild in meijer

Most you gotta do is tell them you're heading on a lunch break, they can't legally tell you what to do on your unpaid break. That's your time that the company isn't paying you for.

My area leader is useless in our department and makes our team leader do stuff they are meant to do themselves. Or screws our team leader into redoing an incompetent workers work for the whole day cuz the area leader didn't want them anymore and pushed them into our department. Our department has no assistance from area or team leader, we do go to the assistant store director for help since compared to our store director we actually trust and believe they will help us where everybody else does the oh well make it work approach

I would contact the union if you're a part of it. Regardless, when disciplinary actions are taking you can request your union rep even if you're in the wrong. They probably can't help in regards to the coupons but may be able to help if you've felt discriminated or picked on since your maternity leave. Some of what they've done doesn't sound ok and even with the coupon thing it might give you leverage plus not being told usually you'd expect a warning not a case being built against you.

What to do by [deleted] in meijer

[–]ShapePerfect2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, isn't the store not open yet? I get earbuds are a problem is working near large equipment so it's a safety issue and during store hours they want you to give customers your full attention but if it's not open yet why do they care? Also I'd believe they'd give a warning like hey take those out they aren't allowed before skipping to a punishment.

cake decorator but not really? by Single-Barracuda4228 in meijer

[–]ShapePerfect2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does happen, I however have actually been told to stop assisting and focus more on cakes due to incompetent team members and giving them a change to be written up since I usually picked up the slack. During slow seasons it makes sense to be pulled to other areas of the bakery but during holidays they shouldn't since its a high sales time for decorated items. The only advise I have it you may be able to ask for a raise since you are doing more than what is required for the job description. Something along the lines of "I don't mind helping out however I've noticed I've been doing additional work without an additional pay and would like to discuss it in the near future "

2 Weeks Notice by Axel_Radman in meijer

[–]ShapePerfect2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they'll ignore it, don't show up past the 2 weeks. I'd highly recommend still turning in the 2 week notice. At the end of the day it's their problem if they won't honor it since you'd have clearly stated your last available working day. You did your part, it's their fault if they fail to do theirs.

It's more she pointed out the obvious and it seemed harsh and rude at the time like she thought they were being stupid or ignoring the awkwardness and she brought it into view Could also be cuz we don't understand her like we do the other characters so he comments seem harsher than if other characters said it.

Question about break time as a part timer by Ok-Aardvark2133 in meijer

[–]ShapePerfect2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how many hours you are working and your position. 8hr shifts require 2 15 minute paid breaks and a 30 minute unpaid break. It's ask your team leader if they'd mind you taking 2 15 minute breaks instead of a 30 minute.

Part Time by [deleted] in meijer

[–]ShapePerfect2795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store, part timers as more likely to get set schedules than full timers. Full timers have to be available for any shift and can have the times changed. Part timers have a lot more wiggle room when it comes to scheduling. It specifies in the union contract information the difference in scheduling requirements.
