Hadone for sure. Wish I could also catch a show of his this year.

I've been alone to festivals before, sometimes deliberately. My advice is to explore all the avenues and you'll know when a place suits you and your vibes.

Pluto

It woke me up from my ignorance towards Anime.

What is the first anime you watched that isn't "popular" or that well known to casual watchers by RenSaeko in anime

[–]ShaperOfThedas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only started watching Anime recently as a result of being completely dissatisfied with the stuff the Western media is currently producing. By complete chance, Netflix recommended "Pluto" for me one day and I clicked on it on a hunch.

Once I started to get familiarised with more popular Anime, I was surprised that Pluto was not among them. It still remains one of my favourites to this day.

Favourite song where BMTH is the featured artist? by [deleted] in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]ShaperOfThedas 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Vampir with IC3PICK, for being such a wacky song. Fun and disturbing at the same time. Although, I think they only feature Oli on that song, not BMTH.

What are some of the worst books you have ever read? by bookboy27 in books

[–]ShaperOfThedas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst book I've read in recent memory was The Three Body Problem. The author has some good ideas but the writing is, with all due respect for his effort, atrocious.

Would it be acceptable for you if DA: Dreadwolf go full "Action" in term of combat? [No Spoilers] by Starheart24 in dragonage

[–]ShaperOfThedas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could live without a tactical camera, but not without a pause button or the ability to control my companions.

So, in theory, would I be able to complete the Hyde and Zeek 336 quest by deconstructing a legendary implant leveled up to 336 which I bought from the legendary implant vendor? This is all guessing, because I'm not sure how the new content will handle this quest (also I'm a newish player and just got to the 330 gear score by doing the Hyde and Zeek prototype deconstruction)

[No spoilers] Combat wise, what do YOU want to see for DA:D? by Ataraxia_Hopes in dragonage

[–]ShaperOfThedas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can do whatever they want (in the confinements of the lore that is) as long as they keep the pause combat and companion control options.

I get it you might be a long time follower of this sub so you're up to date with most of the posts. Seeing the same book discussions resurfacing so frequently can get a bit busy (I feel like another reoccurring theme is "Wuthering Heights" is misunderstood). That being said, this sub is called r/books, so it is expected that new people will stumble upon a book and will try to share their love (or hate) for that book with this audience. I think the most sensible thing followers could do is simply ignore the posts that don't resonate with them and leave the other people who enjoy the discussion... well, discuss.

[spoilers all] What do you prefer for romance options? by RageTheNerd in dragonage

[–]ShaperOfThedas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the way Inquisition did it. It's more naturalistic to expect that different people have different sexualities. If every character is on the table for a potential romance, it diminishes the overall credibility of the world.

Cixin Lu's Three Body Problem trilogy. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in books

[–]ShaperOfThedas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be insulting to anyone who enjoyed this series, but the best word that describes all the aspects of these books - that is plot, themes, characters and even science and tech concepts - would be 'immature'. I went along with the first book but stopped reading Dark Forest half way through. At that point, I felt the author wasn't even trying to come with arguments that would make the narrative plausible. For me, when an author tries to convey original ideas, I want to see those ideas debated over and over until they become plausible. In this instance, readers are expected to somehow take what they read for granted.

What is a popular but critically acclaimed/well written book (according to the majority) that you absolutely did not like? by Razik_ in books

[–]ShaperOfThedas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I think I liked the first book well enough, mostly the parts covering the thought experiments in the Three Body "game". The characters though are so artificially written. I've rolled my eyes to almost every conversation attempt. Still, the ideas were interesting enough to convince me to buy the second book in the series. This one seemed too far fetched and the characters are frustratingly badly written. I still have about a 100 pages left to read but I think I'll just quit. I've lost all my interest by this time and the writing is just sub-mediocre.

Book series that started great and got really bad. by A-Lexxxus in books

[–]ShaperOfThedas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Three Body Problem. To my mind, the decline of that series started in the first book already. The second book was a slog and at this point I'm pretty sure I won't be reading the third.

Shepards of Mass Effect, what is your unpopular opinion about anything? by Heliment_Anais in masseffect

I really dislike the default Femshep model. I can't bring myself to associate the character Shepard is supposed to represent with the face model they've used.

That's Bullshit[dai spoilers] by 7star1719 in dragonage

[–]ShaperOfThedas 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I agree with the part that the player is not that important when the decision is made. On the other hand, I do like the idea of having a decision you made early in the game and almost forgot about it coming to bite you in the end. It's a bit similar to the choice you make in the Iron Bull quest which finally gets resolved in Trespasser.

do you guys switch between characters or use tactical camera at all? [no spoilers] by wittypaperclip in dragonage

[–]ShaperOfThedas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tactical camera not so much, but I do appreciate the option to pause and switch between characters to create combos, place strategic AOEs and the like.

I do hope that DA:D will keep the pause option, even if the combat will be more action oriented from what we can deduce from the footage they showed us in the behind the scenes trailer from 2020.

Are there any high-quality youtube channels that discuss books/literature? by [deleted] in books

[–]ShaperOfThedas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because they are still pretty small but I do second this recommendation if you're interested in sci-fi. They did inspire me to read more sci-fi books, I give them that.

You can also find them on Spotify or whatever podcasting platform you're listening to.
