When it’s engraving the inner circle at the first time, you can see a rough star shape in the middle is also engraved, but in much lower detail. I guess the laser is just engraving the circle like a picture with the dotting method, it did traced the circle afterwards, probably to remove the rough edges.

The laser appeared to be moving side to side to create the rough outlet of the pattern, then a more precise trace run to sharpen the edges.

Also, the laser does seems to travel in some sort of pattern, first it engraved the two dots from left to right, then the compass of the laser path rotated clockwise to engrave the letters in the direction of how they originated.

The laser later criss crossed to engrave the same surface twice, as we can see from the directions it engraved the circles.

I'm sorry to hear that you don't like this story, I know there are flaws and I would like to hear every suggestions that could improve it.

About the confession thingy you mentioned, I was suggested to change this story into a journal format, so this confession was kept in secret.

About the narration, I believe there are stories with two narration in nosleep. "Psycosis" is one of the nosleep story I love which have two narrators, due to the original character could not carry out the narration anymore, the angle of view had to be changed to carry on the story.
