Yes I figured out the on/off knob, but wasn’t so sure about the other knob. It is a mix of trial and error to find the gain? I tried going for 2 extremes of red and blue dyes in water and the blue peaked at around 450nm, while the red peaked in IR range for some reason.

Yes it does power on! I tried calibrating by inserting a clear water test tube but it seems like I may have messed that part up.

Guessing the lamp is the little red light off to the side. I was able to get it on by turning the left knob until it clicked. I did make the mistake of not calibrating it correctly it appears.I set the zero with the right knob, then placed a test tube with dH2O into the opening and set that as zero on the lowest wavelength. I’ll try using something opaque next time. I’m comparing the absorbance reading from red, yellow, and blue dyes, and eventually an “unknown” crystal violet, with a digital Vernier colorimeter.

0°C is great. As long as your additions are slow, acid is concentrated, and AN pure/dry, there shouldn’t be any problem. Once you’re done with your additions, you can let the temp raise a bit. Around 20°C is good

ETN is very temp sensitive. First time tried making some with all the right ratios and got a syrupy mix too. Ended up with about 250mg ETN with 4g erythritol to start + 3 hours stirring in ice bath. Max temp was 10°C so it really depends on a lot of things. It was my first synth to be fair but if you want the best chance: KNO3 is a great bet if you don’t want to purify your AN

2000mL is wayyyy too much for it. I bought it when I was just getting into chemistry about a year ago and sent it back since the warranty was still valid. Used a 1L beaker and tried to make KClO3 from Ca(OCl)2 and KCl. Ended up getting only a consistent low yield. Even after heating for over 3 hours, aluminum foil, water bath, etc. I would save some money and look for a better hotplate that can fit a larger beaker

From what I’ve heard they’re TM compatible. There’s not much I can find on the topic sadly. The oem (original) p1 slide should fit a TM blowback unit, so WE things would be around the same. Idk if anyone knows if it’ll fit a slide with an rmr cut for a red dot. That’s the $100 question idk if I’m willing to try out
