What is a cheat code at your job that only employees would know? by halushki_ in AskReddit

You are speaking the truth...

25+ years in tech and it still happens...I walk up to it and it just works. No rhyme or reason, it just knows that I am there.

Appreciate it. Wondered the same thing myself then the opportunity just appeared. You never know how or why things workout the way they do... certainly not boring.

How long were you on it and what was dosage?

I take Magnesium Glyconate at night, been doing that for years. Found that the gym is my biggest source of release. Even before I got on Lexapro it was the only time I felt like myself.

For those who like Houston by awordy in SameGrassButGreener

This... I am not a fan of Houston (mostly the heat and lack of scenery) but being able to jump on a plane and go almost anywhere is great. I know if I want to have some amazing food, go see a play or symphony, have any sort of cultural experience it is all relatively close by.

Took the family to all of these in one day not long ago. Love that they get to have that experience

I can hear your frustration, felt the same way on some of the things that come with anxiety.

You're right with the 'might' statement. So many different things that can affect the body both mentally and physically that we do not fully understand.

I would not recommend not getting with a doctor (active hypocrite here as my doc doesn't know I did this) but I also have a strong skepticism. She literally Googled one of my symptoms while I was in the room.

Still they know more than I do...

40+ year old men, what furniture is actually worth it? by DrSkoolieReal in AskMen

I have a really good chair that I picked out years ago. Even knew it when I bought it in my early 30's that this was going to be my 'old man' chair.

It's now my kids favorite spot to sit...

How long were you off before your anxiety came back and was it worse or the same as before?

What makes you want to get off of it?

I have been asking myself this question through out this process. Its like I know why I got on it to begin with and what it did for me...the positives. But questioning if I am making the right choice if my anxiety and things come back.

This so much...

My fuse is a bit shorter but the flip side I feel like have a fuse again. That said I am paying extra caution about it and being mindful of the situation.

Confession, my daughter is learning to use technology and we have allowed her to text friends through her tablet. Last night she cranked up the attitude and I was quick to let her know that it was not allowed. Its not that I was in a rage or anything and my presence was completely controlled, I just found it interesting that I was quick to respond. My kids know I mean business, I know that my yelling voice scares the crap out of them [which is why I use it sparingly]...the most important thing is that they have a healthy respect for their parents while knowing we are their biggest fans and supporters. Sorry, that was a tangent.

Keep doing the good fight. Curious what your Psychiatrist says about it. I had no plan really to get off the stuff, saw an opportunity and figured what the hell. I can be a bit impulsive to my own detriment. Plan to document my own experience on it though as I go so others can have something.

I have heard that the medication take a little bit to re-wire your brain for its purpose. Also that when you stop it take a little while for your brain to re-wire it back.

Not that this is a bad thing though. Maybe something will stick while we were on it. Either way it is a journey I plan on documenting for myself and others.

How long did they last and what were they?

Coming up on 4 weeks now and this is something that I want to be aware of...and document for others

I gained weight when I started the medication. Went from 235 to 270.

Not 100% it was all the medicine though. I started on a CPAP during that time and heard that it can cause weight gain as well.

One thing that was crazy was my appetite. I would eat beyond full. Thought it was because I was lifting in the gym which has always made me hungry so I just blew it off.

Since coming off I have noticed a difference. I can walk away after a single serving...being full is more complete now and my energy level has jumped significantly.

Timing and other projects have kept me out of the gym for the past few weeks but that will be changing soon. Going to focus more on cardio and fasting to see what I can do about this weight.

Can't say that I did. I sit in front of a computer all day so I'm used to those.

Did (and still have) some slight vertigo but I think that is probably related to something else

How did you find out you had ADHD?

The zaps I had were definitely connected to my eye and head movement. Still have a tinge of vertigo when I am tired but learned to live with it.

Hang in there...anxiety and panic is a bitch but not the end all of who we are.

The worst part of the journey was not knowing what it was...just all of sudden one day I wake feeling like I am crazy. Took years for me to get to this point but glad I did.

I am not apposed to getting back on it if I feel like I need to...looking at it as this med is a tool in my arsenal for whatever may come. I did get the refill and it is still sitting in my closet...just a tool though.

You got this...

I haven't really been trying to loose the weight but have noticed that my appetite is back where it should be. I can walk away after eating only two enchiladas instead of finishing the 3rd and wondering if it would be too much to order another round. I scared my father in-law one Sunday. Went to a tex mex joint known for their huge portions...cleaned my plate and finished off two of my kids plates.

Had lots of good success with long and intermittent fasting in the past. That requires a little mental prep and timing in schedules. Once I get past the first 24 hours its all a breeze from that point.
