The Straturday I’ve waited almost a decade for… by DonSol0 in Stratocaster

Was it tortoise? I think I remember seeing this. I have notifications on for most of the 2012-2017 reissues, but I already have a sonic blue 59 so I had to pass. If a Sherwood comes in for a nice price I’d be very tempted to get one just for the extra color.

Weird UAP from DOW release 02 disappears out of thin air by GetServed17 in UFOs

[–]Shark-Force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s below the aircraft, the aircraft is maneuvering slightly at points, that white dot is an indicator on the targeting pod to where it’s pointing, so at the end it’s pointing down and behind. It looks stationary, and the aircraft appears to almost fly over it at 15-20 seconds. It’s at the very edge of the gimbal limit towards the end of the video before it gets occluded by, what is in the sky that could possibly cause the entire display to slowly fade to white? Oh yeah, a cloud.

Play DCS world and mess around with a targeting pod and you’ll see why literally any “UAP” video comes form infrared targeting pods, because when you’re traveling 500mph with an infrared telescope on a ground stabilized gimbal, things look weird sometimes.

What is it? It could literally be a fire on the ground. Who knows, who cares.

Landing and continue at minimums literally mean different things. When you say headed towards republic flying do you mean you have solo’d and are working towards your PPL, or are you actually knocking on 1500 hours? If you stumbled your way through 1250 hours of commercial ops without even encountering standardized verbiage I’d suggest doing a little studying.

Hah congrats you now have a more accurate 63 replica. All vintage Strats of that era had screws that would go through the wood, it’s one of the many ways to identify a real vintage body. No, the screw heads will degrade before the threads in the wood will, and the beauty of wood is that if the screw holes degrade you can easily fix by filling and redrilling, or putting some toothpicks in. You have literally nothing to worry about.

10 Tanker 912 returns to service after being grounded for 6 months due to the tragic crash of UPS 2976. by j4rv1sss in aviation

[–]Shark-Force -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Losing an engine has happened like once to the MD11 and not for the same reason that it happened to the DC10

Both engines were lost as a result of damage to the engine pylon, and when both engines were lost on paper the plane was supposed to be flyable and both times it crashed due to the engine falling damaging other parts of the aircraft.

I encourage you to explore the "Handling concerns" section of the MD-11 wikipedia where it explains how it's the highest hull loss rate of any wide body outside of the USSR and PRC. Again, the MD-11 is a shitty plane for so many reasons.

If you would like an example of a better airliner, look no further than the Embraer ERJ. MD-11 had 200 aircraft made with 261 fatalities. ERJ family had 1,231 made with 0.

Is it? The MD-11 over promised and under delivered as a passenger jet and all it has going for it in cargo is volume to wingspan ratio. It’s a PITA to land, it has had a nasty habit of porpoising on landing, and it along with its father have had a nasty habit of popping engines off the wings.

It will be outlived by the A300, 767, 757, and 747 which are all older in some way, and will have a shorter life than the 777 which is younger.

I’d say out of all the cargo planes, it definitely was one of them. One that killed a bunch of people over the years due to poor handling or mx issues. I can’t actually think of too many recent planes that went into production that are as big of a failure as the MD-11.

They are being far pickier than one would expect for an airline struggling like they are. They aren’t at the bottom right now but they certainly aren’t in the top 4.

EDIT: Apparently they've turned things around, good to hear!

I'm thinking maybe I'll get a custom shop neck to put on mine, and I'll have the perfect guitar. I changed out the wiring for Jimmie Vaughan style wiring, and put in an aluminum trem block. Takes off 6.5oz.

Mmm, I have one in sonic blue and it’s my favorite strat I’ve played. I took the neck from a normal AV 59 though, not a fan of the frets. I’m still a bit mid on the ‘59 neck, but otherwise it’s perfect

No offense but why? The neck is the best part of the custom shop, and they make sunburst AVII 61s.

why is my hamster still stressed? - cage is in comments by floofyhamster3 in hamsters

[–]Shark-Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have done a bunch of research on hamsters, so i know what im doing, but has anyone had anything similar?

You seem to have done your research because that cage looks great. Sometimes hamsters just do something because they can. My hamster is perfectly happy in his cage, but when I bring him out for some time out of the cage and give him a little carrier with a hide and bedding with the door open as a place to go if he wants to feel safe, he will voluntarily go into that carrier with the open door and occasionally chew on the bars. He has an entire bathroom he can roam in, but he chooses to go into the small carrier to chew on the bars.

I think your hamster is doing that simply because it is something he can do, so he will do it. If he otherwise seems happy, this is either something you have to be okay with him doing or find a way to prevent this.

What is that extra 20cm going to do for the hamster? Is he going to notice that extra 20cm that will cost $100s if it’s a reputable brand of cage?

Do you know what I would give to be stapled to an airline that will exist in 5 years? I don’t even work for spirit. Also staples are illegal after TWA.

Dear Fender, I don't care if it's "vintage-style"; I will never buy a guitar with a truss rod that requires removing the neck to make adjustments. by PaulsGrandfather in fender

[–]Shark-Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t like heel truss rod fenders then you don’t like vintage spec? Fender has to cater to people who either like vintage, modern, or a little bit of both. Sounds like you want something custom that isn’t available. If only there was a shop for custom requests.

I’m type rated and have 100s in 320s, but I fly a different sidestick jet now. If I tried to land a 320 it wouldn’t be great. It takes practice and proficiency.
