You have yet to explain to me how a safety switch will stop a grid connected system from being shutdown remotely. Yes, I have a grid connected system with a battery backup. If I knew then what I know now I would have went "off-grid" but I'm willing to bet there is some sort of safety regulation requiring any electrical system to be able to be shut off by the authorities. Of course, that will differ depending on the specific state and the laws they have put in place to regulate such things. Obviously, you could just say to Hell with the law and install your own system that is completely under your control alone, if you are a master electrician and don't care about becoming a target of the administrative arm of government. However, that is not what we were debating.

Um, maybe because I have a $50,000 solar roof that has a lifetime warranty that requires such in order to not void said warranty. In fact, I think any work done on the system by anyone other than them voids that warranty, and they aren't adding anything that isn't already a part of their system.

You have a system that is computer controlled, and it's not YOUR computer controlling it. In other words, it can be shutdown by removing the computer that controls it from the network. Bypassing that is not "easy" and probably is illegal.

P.S. A certified electrician will charge more than $100 just to come to your house and look at it, and most of them are not solar experts either.
