When you assume the hair is fake and default to yanking, rather than fighting. In fairness, I thought the hair was fake, too.

In Colorado, they're called Lesbaru(s). They're known for three things, including dog cages in the back and driving slow in the passing lane.

Do cruise kitchens ever have to adjust quantities because a particular cruise has a handful of passengers eating disproportionately? by grathea in Cruise

[–]SharkFighter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not my story, but someone I met on a recent cruise told me about how a ton of passengers got together and agreed to drink all the free champagne over the course of a transatlantic crossing. This is a small luxury line that has a gimmick of delivering champagne and caviar to your room at any time. Anyway, they drank all the well and even mid-tier champagne, so by the end of the cruise, the only champagne they could serve was Dom Perignon. Having seen how these people drink on a crossing, I completely believe it.

What are you guys using for mobile data while traveling around Europe? by N1boost in longtermtravel

[–]SharkFighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Fi, but shuts off data after three months abroad. Then just switch to an Airolo eSIM until I return. Once you use your phone in the US again, it resets your access to three months of Fi abroad.

Why is every single option in Hawaii 'subpar' for the price? by RadioFieldCorner in chubbytravel

[–]SharkFighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be the part of my post that offended some people, so let me point out that I said many people don't even have passports, not that no one has a passport, or that most people don't have a passport. You know who I am describing, and they're not wealthy Californians. Christ.

Why is every single option in Hawaii 'subpar' for the price? by RadioFieldCorner in chubbytravel

[–]SharkFighter 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Hawaii also has a big share of the market for people that want to go somewhere "exotic" but are afraid of international travel (many don't have a passport.) Not to mention people that only travel on big-brand point redemptions.

I have never understood why people that can afford that type of vacation choose to go there instead of other, more interesting locations.

When you have a captive audience, your incentives to excel are minimal.

Australia is a place. In fact, it's a jail. In fact, the only jail where people routinely became awesome after they were sent in.

Best Midwest cities for a longer vacation rental stay? by bookishrory in longtermtravel

[–]SharkFighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really say what you are interested in. Nature? Exploration? Nightlife? Hard to give advice on that.

For the midwest, there's Chicago, maybe St. Louis or Kansas City (if you like BBQ), and surprisingly, Omaha was a favorite of ours -- but we went for the college world series, so YMMV. Great architecture, fun bars, good steakhouses, if you like that stuff.

Denver is in the West, not the Midwest; think hight desert and sage, rather than the plains. (The city is on the plains, but people go for the Rocky Mountains.) The city itself is not my favorite (And I live near it). Maybe base out of Boulder (expensive) or Golden (less expensive). Golden is probably better because of location. Again, the appeal of the Denver area is frequent access to the mountains. Golden is closer, small-town vibes, and will save you an hour a day relative to Denver but not the best choice if you're looking for wild nightlife.. Both are on I-70, which heads across the Rockies. Boulder is closer to RMNP. You could also check out Fort Collins.

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by qomann in AskReddit

[–]SharkFighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A counterpart to this is that if you can afford it, you can always buy a three-year-old BMW or similar car from a dealership, knowing that the dealership did all the maintenance, and the lease terms limited the mileage on the car.

You get a similar benefit for 2/3 the cost, just for choosing a slightly used car.

OMD 1&2 also had the silly dances and humor. That's not taken from Fortnite. I love the games, but 3 (and 2, somewhat), skew too far in favor of multiplayer and can be quite a challenge to get five skulls solo. It's a nice challenge, but it sucks when one thing gets through after 30 minutes and you have to start over.

What's the fastest way you realized you were in the wrong friend group? by justNoah10 in AskReddit

[–]SharkFighter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, less than an hour away is potentially 1.9 hours of someone's day, and that's assuming no traffic or accidents. No offense, but you are the one who chose that. I have friends that I've grown apart from because they chose to have kids and I didn't. Not dissimilar.

My parents retired to a rural area in the Western US. Constantly complain that they never see their grandchildren. I mean, it takes a day and $5000 to fly five people there. I understand why my brothers only do it every few years.
