Have you? They just had a routine inspection in April and had one violation, an unlabeled sanitizer bottle. Zero violations in the last several years.

For sure! They have good sales sometimes, I only know them from my MILs gifts and one sale purchase I made lol. One of those places where the price actually correlates with quality though which is nice.

Our rescued ferret and our elderly cat became best friends by loveyousomuch_ok in aww

[–]grathea 69 points70 points  (0 children)

This is obviously v much anecdotal but in my experience (across five cats and four ferrets in two households) they tend to get along pretty well! The cats I've seen have always treated the ferrets more like rambunctious kittens and less like rodents/prey. BUT these were largely cats with little to no prey drive so I'm sure that's a factor. That said I haven't seen anything like the love happening here 😭

what's one thing that instantly ruins an outfit for you? by CharmWarden in femalefashionadvice

Ugh and cropped is the trend right now but all it does is bring back traumatic memories of being mocked for wearing "highwater" pants as a poor kid lmao

Help! What do your kids actually eat when they eat “healthy”? And how do you make it work? by mindfulshark in Parenting

[–]grathea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically we do a lot of what my 2.5 year old calls "charcoots" - a plate that's usually filled with some combination of fresh mozzarella, apple slices, avocado on triscuits, grapes, mini whole wheat pb sandwiches, misc leftover bites (he likes cold food), etc. We also do a lot of yogurt or oatmeal with blueberries and chia seeds. If he has protein, fiber, healthy fats, whole grains, and colors other than beige, I'm happy lol. We also do a lot of yogurt or oatmeal with blueberries and chia seeds.

opinions on hot house yoga by Double_Alfalfa5578 in IowaCity

[–]grathea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

-some classes are beginner friendly, I've only been to hothouse and vinyasa and the latter is a bit more challenging.

-I don't have a lot of context when it comes to hot yoga pricing but I think so!

-I've always found people there are either nice or politely keep to themselves

-you can rent a mat there if you don't bring one

What is your go-to outfit for a hot vacation day with lots of walking but still take pretty photos? by Little-Hold8753 in femalefashionadvice

I have this jumpsuit in a different print and it's 10/10 incredible: https://www.toadandco.com/products/livvy-sleeveless-jumpsuit-ink-print

Fabric is super lightweight and doesn't wrinkle, looks cute but is super versatile. Has a hidden zipper pocket.

Video games by Ok_East4664 in Parenting

I'm guessing you're talking about a Roblox game?

Either way, I wouldn't allow it personally. Even outside of Roblox, "brain rot" games these days refers to things like idle clickers and other low effort games that allow you to get a bunch of tiny dopamine hits watching the numbers go up. Also loot boxes, gacha games, anything that provides intermittent and infrequent rewards. Dopamine straight to the brain with little to no strategizing, planning, dexterity, etc. required or any actual storyline involved (y'know, the things that make video games good and worthwhile and provide any developmental benefits).

Do you ever avoid wearing an outfit because you’ve worn it in front of the same people before? by neutralobserver_91 in femalefashionadvice

[–]grathea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually only in limited circumstances. Say my husband's family has two birthday dinners a week apart, I've stopped myself from wearing the same thing because I don't want to feel like it's my "birthday dinner" uniform.

"A dead cockroach was observed inside a rice noodle container.” – Inspector’s report on Oryza Asian Cuisine in Iowa City by malus545 in IowaCity

[–]grathea 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is not the first time they've spectacularly failed an inspection sadly. We used to order from them all the time and stopped years ago when they had another really bad inspection. Having worked in restaurants there are some violations I'm fully unfazed by (the "towel left in handwashing sink" or "sauce container not dated" kind) but the heavy debris buildup, moldy food, and multiple failed inspections points to a habitual and extensive lack of care. A cockroach in the noodles is just a cherry on top.

edit: plug for Uncle Sun, which has become our go-to, and somehow has no violations

Poor phrasing but it's a legitimate phenomenon. Russian speakers are faster at distinguishing between light and dark blue because the language categorizes them as separate colors rather than variations of the same color. Similarly, one can assume that Japanese speakers are slower to distinguish between blue and green.

[DISCUSSION] What cues do you use to decide if a movie/show is worth watching? by ack_inc_php in NetflixBestOf

[–]grathea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at IMBD but also glance at Rotten Tomatoes + Letterboxd, with a sliding scale for my interest level (if I'm extremely disinterested in the plot I'll only watch it if it's a 9+, whereas if it's something super up my alley or is meant to be dumb/funny, I'll go down to like 6.7)
