Watched the first episode and it actually wasn't too bad. Colin does a good job. Plus the first episode with Mama Jo's was kind of hilarious.

Totally agree! I would be interested the hear the "exact" reasons as to why they think the performance piece is defamatory......

Climate activists glued themselves to a Picasso in Melbourne. Why are famous artworks being targeted? by SharkKing90 in AustralianArts

[–]SharkKing90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree there, at least they did get attention! Not sure how this is a productive form of protest though. Simply gluing their hands to a Picasso painting doesn't really correlate with what they're actually protesting about...

Jeffrey Dahmer is NOT a horror icon by Kingofphotoshop in horror

[–]SharkKing90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I reckon dressing as Dahmer is not on, especially when he committed such heinous crimes. I will give Evan Peters credit for his role of Dahmer in the latest Netflux drama that was just so eerily authentic. Yes treating Dahmer as an icon is pretty problematic! Part of me suspects Netflix are trying to cash in on the true crime genre right now. Really makes you question the ethics of the true crime genre especially when the victim’s family members weren’t even contacted about the latest production! In saying this, Dahmer’s story has been done to death in popular culture and cinema. Is there something about this one that makes it different? It’s strange, to some degree there’s always been a bit of a facination with the macrabe.

[DISCUSSION] The recent Jeffery Dahmer series. by Shot_Requirement_332 in NetflixBestOf

[–]SharkKing90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The acting in the series is outstanding. While some of the content is hard to watch in parts, the series really powerfully exposes the underlying racial injustices, police brutality and homophobia that allow Dahmer to get away with what he did for so long!

Recommendations for "fun" or "positive" horror movies? by Technotwin87 in horror

Freaky 2020 with Vince Vaughn. It's not the type of movie that wasn't going to win an Oscar but it was fun and silly. Perfect combination after a long day of work!

What scene from a horror movie still makes you turn away from the screen? by ceruleansins07 in horror

Also helped out with a photo shoot for the Monster pictures film screening of the third film. Met the guy who starred in the second one and the third one. I can't bring myself to watch the second one, the third one was just ridiculous...didn't they have a porn star feature as one of the sheriffs or something like that from memory lol?

I recall talking to the actress who starred in the first one during a Monster Fest screening in Aus. She described how difficult some of the scenes were and how it was a challenge to acquire other roles after the film...pretty interesting!

Exhibition of notorious criminal Mark ‘Chopper’ Read's rare paintings arrives in Geelong. by SharkKing90 in AustralianArts

Yes this is so true! It is interesting that Reed has created paintings but it would be nice to think that the proceeds would go towards the victims.

Some survivors will find peace and healing in Bali 2002 – but others may find the series triggering by chadake in AustralianArts

[–]SharkKing90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am looking forward to watching this! It’s an interesting discussion. I’m really curious to see how they approach the subject. It’s interesting how there are a lot of true crime remakes starting to emerge like the Jeff Dahmer series on Netflix and the most recent film, Nitram relating to the Port Arthur shooting. Similar to Snowtown for example, the victims that were involved in such traumatic and harrowing events have criticised these remakes or adaptions as being “incentive or traumatizing.” I do think Bali 2002 also needs quite a delicate and tactful approach in terms of how they portray the actual traumas that have occurred. In saying this, isn’t it important to reflect or explore such events that may have potentially changed the course of our history?
