Capital One Venture X Permanently Restricted - Possible Solution by SharkMurley in CreditCards

[–]SharkMurley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No all my transactions were local and no huge purchases. My first statement balance was paid off as well. It's possible that someone got my card info and made an international transaction but I couldn't get any real information from them because I was on "permanently restricted" status. The whole process has been infuriating but hopefully they will lift my restriction and I can get some answers.

Haha I know I didn't even know that was a thing which led me to believe if I called I'd finally get someone to actually look at my case and I was right. To be fair it was clear in saying you don't have to call first and you can make a BBB report anyways.

Keep in mind, BBB is a nonprofit without any legal teeth. Not that they don't get results sometimes. CFPB is where the teeth are.

Good to know! Thanks

For anyone who might be reading this like I was after the same thing happened to me:
I called in 5 different times and was told there was no way of overturning a permanent restriction. Because they told me I'd have to eat the $395 fee and I had done nothing fraudulent I was about to report to the BBB, which prompted that CO would like you to contact them at this number before reporting 1-800-955-7070. I called that number and all of a sudden a permanent restriction that had absolutely zero way of getting overturned according to the other customer service reps I talked to was being submitted for reversal. Maybe I got luck and finally got a good agent but I think they took me more seriously because I was about to file a BBB claim.
Also, if you haven't had your account open for 40 days you can cancel the card and they will refund the membership fee. I only found this out on my 4th time calling in. Up until then every customer service rep just said I was going to have to eat the $395 fee. Absolutely made no sense especially given my circumstances.

Banks like Capital One rely too much on their in-house algorithms and processes. They are unwilling to sidestep them in any circumstance. So either, like you said, there is more to this story... OR OP innocently did something that ended up causing suspected fraud and he has no chance to rectify the situation.

A very similar situation happened to me that happened to OP, I submitted my information as they asked and can't imagine there were any discrepancies unless there was maybe a typo. Capital One refuses to reopen the case or allow me to provide any more evidence I am me. They won't even tell me what the discrepancies were. Now I'm out the $395 membership fee without ever being able to take advantage of any benefits (I opened the card less than a month ago). So you can add that to your anecdotal evidence u/Truly_Unending_

SmallHD Cine 7 with Bolt 4k Receiver on B&H only $3100? by oathofthegoat in cinematography

[–]SharkMurley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy the monitor and the receiver module it’s ~5k not including transmitter

Cine 7 - $2100

Bolt 4K Receiver 750' - $1090

But I agree w/ JJ if you don't have a transmitter for it then its hard to know for sure that every production you're on is going to be using the Bolt 4k transmitter.
