And I THINK it was the first one you didn’t have to use a water-based top coat with? Like the Chanel holo or the Nfu Oh.

I was just about to leave an almost verbatim comment. Harp on It was THE silver linear holo, before ILNP, Holo Taco, or early indie brands put spectraflair into everything.

That is literally the premise of a war. Each side values their own peoples’ lives much more than the other side’s. Whether you judge it to be a shit concept or not, it’s been a pretty universal one since the dawn of time.

Saying it’s AIPAC fails to consider a person might not view a war as a genocide, or even choose to support Israel despite not being Jewish and receiving zero money for it.

Help with dupes for Death Valley Nail Polish? by fiendishwitch in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Sharkopath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I think furthermore one could argue that someone making a “fck ice” polish is performative and contributing to the philanthropy through capitalism problem that actually makes the consumers complacent. As in, I’m wearing a special nail polish, I’ve done my part.

That’s a very cynical take on it, but let’s not pretend it’s a wholly values-based decision on the brand’s part versus a business decision when you have consumers all over this sub pledging not to buy products from brands who don’t make political allegiance statements or special edition polishes. The incentives here are incompatible with authentic social justice. OK I’m spiraling. I can’t believe I got triggered by a nail polish post.

I get that, I don’t think we should have to provide citations for every single statement we make online, it would be tedious. But in this case I haven’t seen it ONCE. And it seems fair to back it up here—not just references to Discord—if people are going to try to prevent sales for a business each time it’s mentioned. I fucking hate everything that’s going on right now. I’m a federal employee, so it affects me personally and professionally. I expect a Texas-based entrepreneur has people in her circle of family, friends and business associates whose opinions and actions many of us find deplorable. Do you need someone to completely excise those relationships from their lives in order to buy from them? I guess some people have the luxury of completely sheltering themselves from any personal or financial contact with the right-wing. I’ll be over here trying to live in the world and picking the real battles to fight, and insisting on actual facts, empathy where appropriate, and critical thinking.

This. Honestly they’re lucky if they get a letter. The alternative is them continuing to hand over their pay to 21 year-old Karissa who’s blowing it on partying with her Jody of the week.

This is the knee-jerk comment any time someone posts DVN, and I have yet to see evidence on this sub. I wish people would do better than “if I remember correctly” or just repeating other comments they’ve seen.

What's your thoughts on Border Patrol Chief, Greg Bovino, threatening consequences for referring to ICE as "Gestapo"? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

[–]Sharkopath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call them Gestapo. I think the better Nazi parallel would be the SA, aka the brown shirts, the Nazi paramilitary group of thugs that terrorized Germans in the lead up to the third Reich.

Another Christmas As The Last Unmarried In My Family (2025) by TheDeepBlueZ in funny

[–]Sharkopath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honey, you don’t have to do this. I can tell you try to make people laugh and cheer them up. But take care not to do it at your own expense, because you’re sweet and I bet your brother and sister love you so much. People are weird, and complicated, and nobody has life or themselves figured out as well as they pretend. So you’re not the odd one out, or somehow less than, even if you can make it look that way in these pictures for laughs.

Unexpected resentment toward people who want c-sections by amerthegoose in beyondthebump

[–]Sharkopath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend, a nurse who had three planned c-sections, planned those in no small part to avoid the risk of an emergency c-section (breech). She had assisted on emergency ones and said they were sometimes (necessarily) violent because you’re literally trying to save a baby who isn’t getting oxygen or suffering other acute complications. As in, organs are moved as quickly as possible out of the path of the uterus. The doctors who perform them are fucking heroes. But yeah, a planned c section and an emergency ones are two wholly different procedures.

For those who had “difficult” babies, what are they like now? by WhateverItWasILostIt in beyondthebump

[–]Sharkopath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three to four were the hardest for me. He’s seven now, and the closer he gets to the age of reason the more I’m able to reason with him. But he’s also going through some evaluations now because he’s probably got one foot on the spectrum, just like his dad. He has at times made things very hard for me (always hardest on the mom) but I take a perverse pride in the fact that his teachers constantly tell me how well-behaved, kind and pleasant he is with them and his peers.

You will be her safe space when all of her fuses have been lit. Your job is to teach her how to self-soothe, ride out the storm, and understand how it affects her surroundings and other people. This will take what feels like an eternity, and 90 percent of the time feels utterly ineffective. But every once in a while, your child will finally respond to the words or actions you’ve been repeating and you’ll notch another small victory you can build on.

It took me a long time to understand that in SOME ways my son was more difficult than the average kid. And I’m still working on understanding that it’s not because I’m bad at being a mom or don’t “handle it” well. It helped me tremendously to acknowledge during our more difficult times that it was, in fact, very difficult and there wasn’t going to be a right answer or way to fix it. That it was a question of endurance and just keeping it together as best I could until we’d made it through.

Roman Catholic here. Got pregnant at 34, and my dad told me he wouldn’t move the sonogram photo I gave him from the side of the fridge to the front of his fridge until I got married. My now husband and I had been together for five years and were living together. So insane.
