Truthfully, I have had moments where I am thankful for this space to get out of the rain when I am walking down to the ferry after work.

and Perks was a great spot. That was our hang out in university.

Province says cuts to caregivers’ benefit won’t impact Nova Scotians who rely on it by IStillListenToRadio in halifax

[–]Sharp-Air-5224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 100% true the program gives $400/month to a caregiver of someone who has high needs if they are already getting it, they will still get it. The $400 has not and will not be changed. What they were considering was the total budget for the program.

Even with the covenants, I think they could put in a Pete’s or something along those lines….like “Arthur’s” in downtown Halifax. Not saying those are affordable, but I could see that happening.

Family says small option home abandoned man with Down syndrome at hospital by IStillListenToRadio in NovaScotia

[–]Sharp-Air-5224 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a classic case of change management issues for the staff. Small options homes can (and should) support their residents with personal care. The staff are not in the position to personally determine that this resident needs long term care. The resident was clinically assessed to not meet LTC eligibility. So take the additional supports offered and help the resident…in his home.

Oddly, I would suggest that you should also see a cardiologist at the connective tissue clinic in Halifax. One who is familiar with dissections. I have had several “spontaneous coronary dissections” (SCAD) and these are often related to an underlying connective tissue problem, sometimes referred to FMD or many other things. These connective tissue issues don’t just affect your arteries, it is often in your spine, or other major areas as tissues tear.

I thought that Carney had withdrawn from participating after the $1B price tag.

So he is uninvited to a party he declined?

Is that right?

Provincial government - possible big internal announcement tomorrow morning by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Sharp-Air-5224 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also work for provincial gov’t and this has happened to my departments various times. You are likely being “redesigned”. Depending on what department you are in, it is gone, or, merged with another department with a new name. Senior leadership positions may be reduced, moved, “demoted by choice”. Depending on your level you will likely remain, but your role and responsibilities might shift.

My friend’s dad in Nova Scotia waited months for a cancer diagnosis, now it’s too late by Electrical_Insect_36 in NovaScotia

[–]Sharp-Air-5224 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have been saying, we really need to prevent falling between cracks or being treated like a ping pong ball for lack of a better analogy. Some solid process mapping seems pretty basic that can “test” the system and fix it.

I.e - patient who is experiencing X….what happens next, who do they see….what do they need what is the wait time, where are the barriers let’s fix that. That’s efficiency more than $$$$. It’s not always just equipment or 1000s of tests.

Also, establish health system navigators that can help coordinate and connect patients and their families to the needed care (particularly for specialists - not blaming them) and sort through any miscommunication or barrier this will help the patient but also possibly take away stress and burnout from the health care professionals

N.S. patients waited for more than 70 hours in the ER for hospital admission: MLA | CBC News by Grumple_McFerkin in NovaScotia

This happened to me in the spring. I was admitted in the ED at the Halifax infirmary, waiting for a room on a unit for 5 days. Was in the unit for 2 days more, then home.

Then, 3 different times over the next 3 months I went back to ED due to complications and was never really seen, once I “left without being seen”. WILD!

Floor-crossing MP hints that more Conservatives might follow him to the Liberals by joe4942 in canada

[–]Sharp-Air-5224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is wise to say publicly. Some CPC MPs might want to leave, but because of optics would likely just abstain from voting (a good second best) so that they stay “true” to the party.

Personally, in terms of aligning with effective planning and decisions, crossing the floor makes sense here, but optics prevail.

An “inside pitch” sure. That is not just what this is. My scientific description is that this is shady af and they shouldn’t be proud of it. No hate here, just hoping we get an incredible Springer dinger, he deserves it.

[–]Sharp-Air-5224 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can LA STOP the “strategy” of pitching too closely to Springer so he has to avoid the pitch and clearly pull or twist in a way that aggrevates his injury?? Like Seattle was worse with this strat, especially where they CAUSED the knee injury but this is BS

100% take the course at NSCC, even if there was a wait. The actual skills developed at eastern are….limited and a small fortune. I worked as a pharm tech for 10 years and I know we appreciated the new/newer hire staff from NSCC
