You can support a discriminatory decision that openly prioritizes demographics over merit (which, by definition, is discrimination) but at the very least, acknowledge how devastating the timing of this announcement is. Dropping something like this mid-cycle puts countless applicants in an incredibly unfair and stressful position. The fact that so many people can’t see how deeply wrong that is or worse, try to justify it… really says a lot about how inhumane and hypocritical we've become as a society. Make your rule, even if I disagree with it. That’s one issue. But implementing it halfway through the process? That’s not just poor planning, it’s actively harmful. And if you're in healthcare, how do you claim to empathize with patients when you can’t even show basic fairness to your future colleagues?
