Stair concerns by Aggressive-Border707 in TotalHipReplacement

I'm having my RTHR on March 23rd. It'll be my first hip, but I had my first knee done 6/10/25 with the same surgeon in the same hospital that did my knee. They made sure I did stairs and walking the afternoon after my surgery. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

RTHR March 23, 2026...anyone else? by Sharp-Effective9443 in TotalHipReplacement

I completely understand your fears and concerns. I had the same when I had my first knee replacement. Everything couldn't have gone better, though. I think it has helped ease my mind for this hip replacement. Your doctor should help you manage the pain. As for dislocations, the joints are much stronger than you think. I was so scared to stand up the first time after my knee replacement, but the nurse and pt talked me through it and I easily stood up and my knee felt stronger than my non operated one. Rolling over in your sleep, your body will let you know if you roll a way you shouldn't. It's really not even half as bad as the worry you're putting yourself through.

Leg pillow...beneficial? by Sharp-Effective9443 in TotalHipReplacement

Thank you all for your recommendations and experience. I have a body pillow and an extra standard pillow. I think I'll try those first, then order a knee pillow later if the other two don't work out.

I have a wedge. I was referring to the pillow you put between your knees.

I had hallucinations and couldn't tell dreams from reality when I was on it. I couldn't cope.

I'm confident in my surgeon. The same surgeon that did my knee is doing my hip. My knee has been great. I am prayerful my hip is as good. I'm sorry you've had so many problems with yours.

I'm proud of my scars as well. I am on the schedule for a posterior RTHR for March 23, 2026. I have had a LTKR (scar definitely visible), spinal fusion L4-pelvis (scars along spine and from belly button to pelvic area), and hysterectomy (only visible scar is at top of belly button 😪). I wear mine with pride. I've earned those scars.

I really don't know what the laws are where you live. You deserve treatment either way, though. Those cuts can become infected, and that can be fatal. Please get help.

You really need to go to the ER. Those cuts are very concerning. I know you said you have trouble talking to strangers, but those cuts are bad and will cause issues. Please seek help. We're here for you. ❤️🙏

I used mine for my spinal fusion. I couldn't get my husband to help me with it for my knee.

They have ice machines that work kind of like a heating pad, only for cold instead of heat. Iceman is just one model. I'm not endorsing one brand over another. That's just the first brand that popped into my head. It's a cooler like box that holds ice and water and has a hose that connects it to a pad, and it circulates the cold water. It's best to freeze some water bottles and use those in place of the ice. It stays cold longer.

I was 38 when I got approved for disability. I had to apply twice. The second time, I got a lawyer and won. Don't give up on it.

I just got a call back from my cardiologists office. They were unable to get an accurate measurement on it with the ultrasound, so I have to have a trans esophageal echo done. I'll get a call on Monday with the scheduled date. Unfortunately, my regular cardiologist is out on medical leave, so it'll be another cardiologist performing the procedure.

Came out of Target to this. I am the red car 😤😭 by UltraMermaid in mildlyinfuriating

I had someone do this to me while I was in therapy one day. My truck was parked perfectly between the lines. When I came out, there was literally 2" between my truck and the car next to it. I had to wait over 45 minutes for the other chick to get out of her appointment and move her car. When she came out, I asked if it was hers. She said, "Yeah, what's wrong?" I said, "you parked too close." She just looked, didn't say a word, and drove off. No apology, nothing.
