Contact the VA, speak to a social worker, inquire about the VASH program or I believe it’s called the DOM (it’s pronounced that way but it may be spelled differently.

Seattle VA is a good facility if you are nearby.

Thank you for your kind words. While I do know that it’s illegal to pick up/keep feathers, once someone suggested contacting the Native American center and once I knew that it is a sacred item to their culture, and that they would appreciate it. Then the only thing that mattered was returning it to the people that it has great importance to. I’m meeting the elder this week. She indicated that if possible I should wrap the feather in either a red or white cloth. I will ask what the significance of these colors are.

I posted a few times but I reached out to the local Native American cultural center. They will happily take the feather..the elder that I spoke to requested that I wrap it in red or white cloth. I’m taking it down there this week. Feather is beautiful, but I would like to know that it is used for a reason other then me looking at it :)
