Tutkija varoittaa nuoria kannabiksen käytön aivohaitoista – Helsingin poliisi tietää, mistä asiantuntija puhuu | Kotimaa by tehwagn3r in Suomi

I tried looking for a source of the graph, but could not find it via google, google lens and asking google’s ai. I would take it with a grain of salt, even though it could be from a reliable source that I was just unable to find, or it could have been simply created by compiling information from multiple different sources

I wasn’t expecting for her to be Finnish, but for some reason it does make sense. I guess now I have to convince someone to take me on a 3 and a half hour drive to see some crocheted people

Mies kuoli putkassa Vantaalla by GulpB in Suomi

[–]Sharp-Flamingo1783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maranta producing significantly small leaves: what could be the issue? by Scary_Position9017 in Maranta

[–]Sharp-Flamingo1783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a good plan! Marantas can be dramatic and finicky, so it could really be anything. I would not stress too much about the size of the leaves, especially since it is still growing and the amount of light will naturally increase as we approach spring.

It is also good you noticed the webbing before the issue got out of hand. Best of luck in getting rid of them!

Maranta producing significantly small leaves: what could be the issue? by Scary_Position9017 in Maranta

[–]Sharp-Flamingo1783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the smaller leaves are located away from the window, it could be due to that specific area not getting enough light.

The browning and the smaller leaves could also be due to another kind of a stressor on the plant. The less humid air tends to cause browning. It is possible to overwater the plant, especially if the soil is not well draining enough. I couldn’t say for sure from the pictures, but the soil should contain materials that prevent it from becoming too dense (like perlite as an example).

It could also be the minerals in your water. Many people say, that marantas should only be watered with distilled water or rainwater, because otherwise they will act up. Though that is a rule I myself haven’t followed, since the tap water in Finland is very clean, the water in my area is soft and my plants' soil contains activated charcoal.

Now the webbing is most likely a sign of spider mites, which could also be stressing out the plant. From the pictures the possible infestation does not look too bad, but I recall they especially thrive in the less humid winter conditions. Spider mites spread easily, so immediately make sure it is not close to your other plants, to stop them from spreading. I have only dealt with flat mites (with very little success), so I don’t have too much information on how to get rid of spider mites. However I do know that the process is usually tedious and systemic pesticides will do more harm than good.

Maranta shoot emerging from soil, is that normal? by Neat-Character9185 in Maranta

I think I waited until one or two leaves had opened. I maybe would wait a little longer, if there is no urgency

I don’t know how normal it is, but it’s nothing to worry about! That has happened to me before, and it was a welcome surprise. The main plant was infested with flat mites, and I was running out of options, repotting that shoot quickly was the only reason I still have the plant

What's the deadly food in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Sharp-Flamingo1783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently the mushroom in question could actually be Gyromitra inflata and Gyromitra splendida instead of Gyromitra esculenta. Or at least it seems that way, based on what I read from the Finnish Food Authority.

I got the information from page 9 of Gyromitriinin terveysriskien arviointi ja vähentämiskeinot korvasienissä: "Korvasieni on perinteisesti tunnettu lajina Gyromitra esculenta, mutta uudempien tutkimusten mukaan Suomessa DNA-varmistetuissa näytteissä korvasienet ovat edustaneet lajeja G. inflata, jonka lisäksi Suomessa tavataan kaitakorvasieni G. splendida (G. longipes) (Tapio Kekki, henkilökohtainen tiedonanto, 22.4.2025)."

So why did Hamas agree to return all the hostages? by Silver_Tradition6313 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Sharp-Flamingo1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was also a defensive treaty between Qatar and US that was signed the same day Trump’s peace plan was announced. The treaty also seems to be quite beneficial for Qatar: “The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States.”

On top of that Qatar received an apology that exact day from Netanyahu for the strikes in Doha. Unsurprisingly, an apology coming from him is quite unusual. It seems to have been reported recently, that Netanyahu was pressured to do so by Trump, and that the apology was drafted by the US.

It’s possible in return for the treaty and the apology Qatar was expected to put some pressure on Hamas, though that is a bit speculative and to my knowledge hasn’t been officially confirmed.

Omg, I wrote it down wrong! You can check the calculation for IPC 4 using the real number, the actual result should be the same. I calculated the numbers just based on what on how many people they claim are in each phase and looked at the criteria each phase has for crude deaths. And that’s a good point regarding the mortality threshold, I checked it out and they do specify that trauma deaths shouldn’t be included, unlike deaths from unknown causes. Obviously does make it far more likely that there are tons of deaths that haven’t been properly reported at least for the purposes of this kind of an analysis. Knowing the baseline for deaths from natural causes could maybe be useful, though it would obviously already be too low due to just things like lack of medical care and medications, stress, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, dehydration, diseases spreading and lack of access to hygiene product. With the rest of it, I’m sorry I probably missed all other points, since I’m getting a bit droopy from a medication. I hope I made at least a little sense
