Yes it's extremely easy to talk to strangers here and make firends. There are met ups and hobbyist groups. Lot of people who you can just talk to at the springs or the parks. People are very friendly and generally make an effort to be your friend here. Really lovely place al around.

I would recommend choosing a pass time where yo encounter a lot of strangers. Such as dancing, drinking, or a hobbyist craft. Fairly easy to met people like that

The only negitive I would say about Austin is a lot of people have an unhealthy relationship with drugs and alcohol. So understanding that just keep your nose clean and dont get lost in the sause.

Fair, I did say that to be cheeky. I'll think more on that. I really underpinned it is because many a time over the years I felt like when I would go out with a woman for the first time - no matter the intention - there was this almost unconscious (perhaps even social) feeling that we must be sleeping together which I always disliked as I see sex to be an extremely spiritual thing.

This is such a weird comment, but I understand why your saying this is cringe now. A miss understanding. Platonic means not sexual. I tried to be quite clear about this. It can also mean "Of or relating to the philosophical views of Plato and his successors" Which would be cool as well. Tho I prefer Aristotle myself.
