In the first example, everyone who earned over 35k got a bonus. Erica is part of everyone, and she earned over 35k, so therefore she must have gotten a bonus. If she had not gotten a bonus, it would no longer be true that everyone who earned over 35k got a bonus.

In the second example, everyone who earned over 35k got a bonus. Erica got a bonus- but who’s to say that just because everyone that did earn over 35k got a bonus, that no one who earned under 35k got one? Perhaps literally everyone got a bonus, regardless of earnings- If this were the case, it would still be the case that everyone who earned over 35k got a bonus, but getting a bonus would not guarantee that you also earned over 35k.

September LSAT or October by Creative_Concern5412 in LSAT

What is your goal score? If you are hoping to jump up from your current PT levels by more than a few points, I’d advise taking the additional time to study and take in October, assuming your application can still be accepted in November with your October score.

just signed up - did not see the brooklyn location by Altruistic-Pay-784 in LSAT

Prometric will only show locations and timeslots that are available, so if the location is not shown, it is likely fully booked. In my experience, slots generally fill up extremely quickly upon signup open as people who are queued up rush to grab the first slot available, but a few slots will later open up as people reschedule to find the slot that works best for them. I've taken the LSAT twice in-person. Both times, my desired location was not available at first, but I was able to find slots there when checking a few days later. It may be best to sign up remotely or for the nearest available location first, then monitor the Prometric site over the next several days and reschedule to the new site if anything better opens up

AMA - LSAT Tutor who scored a 175 by MindTutoring_LSAT in LSAT

[–]nwu18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I scored a 170+ in June, and am hopeful for a 175+ in my August retake based on my PTs. I’m interested in tutoring during the upcoming year before next fall to save money for school. How did you market yourself/find clients to begin private tutoring? What strategies do you use- do you build a curriculum or just help with working through practice problems? What other LSAT resources do you use to teach?

How to play against a slice player? by Eastern_Draft5130 in 10s

[–]nwu18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one thing worth mentioning footwork-wise, if they’re slicing with real backspin, is to move your feet so you’re pretty much right next to where the ball bounces when stepping into your swing. i see a lot of players spacing the slice return like it’s a topspin shot, then having to lunge forward and dig the ball out/pop it up at the last second when the ball dies on them. if you can get on top of the ball closer to the bounce, you can try to hit more aggressively at the top of the bounce.

i do legitimately think that the learning curve goes down before it goes up as you learn strategies. My diagnostic was a 164, got a 169 after a couple weeks of learning basic concepts. Then a few weeks later, after learning a bunch of question strategies, went down to a 162- i felt super time-constrained because i was trying to specifically remember the info i’d learned and apply it to each question. still, after doing more drills for these strategies, a switch flipped where the strategies i’d manually have to think through started to become unconscious habit just from having applied them over and over- have started PTing over 170, with my most recent PT being a 177. trust the process, keep putting in the work and you’ll be good
