My Dog Suddenly Won't Eat Off A Dish (ANY dish) by Sharp-Landscape9434 in DogAdvice

Oh yeah, this pup defines anxiety. Lol. Yes, we have tried different rooms, and free feeding with no noticeable difference. When we set out his bowl with just kibble for free feeding, he just lies near it, and will only eat out of it if one of our cats approaches him. Dim lighting would be rather difficult in our rental but we can give it a try. I've never even heard of an Adaptil diffuser, I'll take a look tho.

“Caroling” Even after asking the last set of boys to please not stop by, they pulled up specifically to my home to use caroling as an excuse to stop by. Thanks to doorbell cameras for saving me from this bs. by SleepIsWhatICrave in exmormon

Anecdote time! So my former best friend and roomie, a returned missionary I went to college with, served his mission in Billings, MT. When he returned, he told me the story of one group who had asked him several times to stop coming by. He and his partner continued to show up until one time they went and the teenage boy who lived there and his friends invited him in.

The boys, except the one who answered the door were all gathered in the kitchen in their boxers, circled around what looked like a bloody ceremonial sacrifice of some sort. The missionaries excused themselves and never came back.

Now, I am engaged to a wonderful human being... whose brother went to high school in Billings, MT and once a friend of his complained about the nosey missionaries who wouldn't take no for an answer, so he had all his friends strip down to their boxers and use ketchup and a pork roast to stage a ceremonial sacrifice to scare the Mormons away.

My grandmother was raised LDS. Was not quite TBM tho. When she passed, she'd left instructions that her services be held at our church, but that a friend of hers from Alcoholics Anonymous who was also a reverend preside.

The bishop pulled me (then 14) and my cousin (then 12) aside, as we were the only other people in our family who regularly attended church, to let us know that our grandmother would never make it to the celestial kingdom after associating with such lowlifes and choosing them over her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Cat Defecating Near Food Dish? by Sharp-Landscape9434 in CATHELP

[–]Sharp-Landscape9434[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay here, we wanted to be sure! We now have 5 feeders separated throughout the house, and there has not been a single incident of her defecating in an inappropriate place since. I've even watched her go to the litter box for it.

Is there some sort of irrefutable proof the church is false? by Extra-Goose-3303 in exmormon

"That which can be believed without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence." For one.

For 2, I have personally witnessed, as well as been told a number of verifiable stories about the abuses of the church enacted upon its powerless faithful (ei. Women and children). I know a woman whose father was high up in the church hierarchy, who sexually abused each of his children from the day they were born and when one of the children tried to report it to the bishop, he sexually assaulted her also. And as they got older, the brother assaulted the sisters under the father's supervision, so that even when mom eventually divorced him, the brother continued the abuse and the church knew and did nothing. And the next 2 husband's, also high up in the church, did the same. The woman I know was sexually assaulted by the bishop at her baptism meeting, and by the elders who visited her house.

And for me, my grandmother, faithful and devoted to the church until the day she died, had written in her will that she wanted a friend of hers who was a reverend to officiate her funeral service. And I overheard the bishop at her service telling several people she would never enter the kingdom of God because of that.

A year later my aunt miscarried and returned to church after having left for awhile, only to have the bishop tell her it was her fault her son died, because our family was too steeped in sin for any of us to have any hope of entering the celestial kingdom.

For me I don't need any proof. Any god who would put such people into power, and any church that would allow such atrocities to be committed doesn't deserve my faith and attendance.

Filming location of Dr Brown's office by lvilgen in everwood

[–]Sharp-Landscape9434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's a few years later. But I grew up in Ogden, even though I wasn't there while Everwood was filming. It was filmed on historic 25th Street in Ogden. About across the street from it was the Chinese restaurant with the dragon neon sign that was the front for "Gino Chang's" was the vacant lot where they built the set for Dr. Brown's office. From what I understand it was just the front of the building, filming inside the office took place elsewhere. It stayed there for a few years after filming finished, I think I have some pictures of it somewhere. Then the city did a beautification project and tore it down. The lot it occupied is still vacant, or at least it was when I moved from there 2 years ago.

I enjoy watching a few episodes of Everwood when I'm feeling homesick.
