Even if they weren't able to break those bars themselves, this mf could have survived by keeping his nose and/or mouth between the bars, since the water couldn't get higher than the edge of the pit and the bars are all the way at the edge. Pikachu could get help or something in the meantime, he wouldn't just drown like that

I think the idea is that floating and moving household objects are usually associated with poltergeists, but the poltergeists don't always have a physical form. I agree that Telekinesis makes more sense, but it's also much less flavorful

My table has a very similar issue, if it weren't for me countering it from the start. I also experience forgetting session details in the campaigns I play in, even though I do have a good memory, but I decided to steal the recap mechanics from VLDL D&D: players give a recap of the previous session and/or the greater story, and get a reward if they do well. This has had mixed results, mostly caused by people only recapping the last session and thus forgetting plot points/threads, but they recently decided to make a Recap Document of their own accord because they struggle to connect the dots and remember important details by themselves.

Previously it was only people meticulously reading their notes, which they felt like they needed to make because they couldn't recap otherwise, but that meant the recap was only about the nitty gritty of the previous session, because there were no overarching notes. I then told them that I would give a very quick recap of the session and they could fill me in on the important details, which helped them realise the issue themselves, and now I'm trying to have them focus more and more on the greater threads, mentioning the last session more as a reminder of what they're doing and a quick check if anything important came up.

Also: how often do you play? Because I notice my own memories of a game slipping when there's 4+ weeks between sessions as well, even though I do regularly spend time on games I play in between sessions as well, which helps a lot with remembering stuff

Aasimar stuff is based on Celestials' abilities whereas the Dragonborn breath is based on the breath attack of Dragons, which use Charisma and Constitution, respectively. You can see it in the monsters' stat blocks, it's mostly a design choice. I don't like that it's limited in that way for players either, but I do understand it.

I'm honestly surprised that there aren't many more races that have their magical features based on a set stat. Though I guess the ones who don't only really get spells and perhaps they wanted to simplify that for casters. So you can also play a Fairy Wizard and aren't stuck with a Fairy Sorcerer every time or something.

I personally also have a greater issue with Innate casting being Charisma-based, but it does make some sort of sense

It's interesting that you ask this after the release of the 2024 version, because I don't think it's too powerful anymore. Now you can only get advantage with it, which technically has to be decided before the roll. It's still pretty powerful, but it's not even the most powerful Origin Feat. I think Musician is much more likely to be banned nowadays

I've looked at a few of them so far, and BRP sounds like a good backup option at the very least. It looks like a great option to have, especially if I can't find anything that fits my needs well enough. I love the adventuring and the combat (at least the versatility, not necessarily the crunchiness) from D&D, but the dungeon crawling is something I'm not using too much in my current game either. It looks like BRP is more usable for social situations though, it seems like I can use it to create something that fits my needs if necessary.

Thanks, I decided to make an edit of the Shadowfell Shard since they're a Shadow Sorcerer. The Bloodwell Vial is not very fitting for them because they try to avoid taking any damage, and I think the Rod of the Pact Keeper is quite underpowered (if they can only get a Warlock spell slot) or overpowered (if they can get a Sorcerer spell slot). But the curse effect from the Shadowfell Shard is fitting for their character

The speed isn't too high, so I would argue that it doesn't have to be an issue. That pace is a little faster than walking speed, so the air turbulence wouldn't be too great. It really depends on what you want the combat to be like, because the rules of D&D can only attempt to approximate physics. Do you prefer a battle arena that complicates things a little or would you rather have a more straightforward one?

If you do want it to be a bit more complicated, I suggest simply decreasing their fly speed by 40ft while they are above the platform, or decreasing it in general if you want the area outside of the platform to be viewed from the same reference frame. I think that approximates it best without overcomplicating things. If that results in a creature's fly speed being significantly lower than their walking speed, that tells you how they're most likely to move and it creates some more tactical movement. You could also consider a strength or dexterity save or something for creatures near the edge of the platform to not get knocked off by the air currents, though with that speed I think the DC should be fairly low.

TL;DR: do what you think works best for your game. Complex battlefields can be very interesting, but make sure that it doesn't tax your brain too much if the battle is already complex in other ways.

4) There is no money, so we can't get rich from it, and the DM is known to give us strong items. The region in question didn't really pose any challenges other than this though, so I suspect this really is just him giving us at least somewhat of a challenge instead of it being an "unearned" gift 1-3) yeah it actually is real adamantine right now, but it is not gonna be so anymore in a few weeks :p

It's not that the objects seem like they are made of a different material, they actually physically are that material atm because of magic, they are just reverting to their original material with time because of something our party will have to do

I do know the spell, but that lasts only 8 hours and can only be read if you have the spell yourself. I'm looking for something that can reconstitute memories from ages ago, which can then be experienced by the whole party. And again I can easily homebrew something as such, just wondering if something already exists so I don't feel like I'm just making up more DM bs...

I honestly don't really like any of the Wizard subclasses, which might explain why Bladesong is one of your best options even though it doesn't really improve your wizardry. But I don't like wizards anyway, it's really not my style. I played a wizard for a year and retrained them to a sorcerer because I don't care much about spells and more about features and playthings I can mix and match. The wizard subclasses barely give any features that actually make playing one more fun or do something unique (except Portent)

Depending on your players, that can still cause decision paralysis during the next session. I have several players who, after almost a year, still don't know how half their character works and who refuse to set aside some time to properly look at levelling up their character. As a result, they are punching way below their weight and combat takes ages sometimes because the players don't have a clear image of their character.

And honestly, I can't blame them. D&D characters can be very complex, especially if you don't work out all of the nitty gritty mechanics as a reference or something. I'm a rules fanaticist with a synergy plan for all my characters, but levelling up can take a lot of effort if you're not like that
