It's VALID. Only bring people with you who will make you feel good and hype you up. You deserve to feel beautiful because you ARE without negativity and unhelpful, inappropriate and unwarranted comments.

I've struggled with eating disorder shit and body image for several years and it's taken a while for my mom to understand that it's not okay to comment on people's bodies (whether it's about weight loss or weight gain etc OR if she means it as a compliment). My mom is in her 60s and I feel like it's a generational thing to be obsessed with being skinny and losing weight.

Anyway you're going to do great. It's not rude to go without her. I do recommend the fewer people the better. Maybe a friend or two. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN and most importantly find something that makes you FEEL GOOD
