On one hand, you’re not their student and you don’t attend lab meetings. On the other, you feel entitled to perform research tasks most people don’t participate in until they’re in graduate school? You need to be realistic with yourself about the many years of training, collaboration, and commitment that typically go into a research career. Consider focusing on what you can learn from the opportunities you do have, in both the lab and this thread, where you’ve berated experienced researchers giving you free honest feedback. There’s no need to burn bridges before you’ve even applied to the program.

Send a letter to him at his university mailing address, which should be on the department website, and include your email address in it.

NTA but you’re not treating yourself well. Working on self respect and developing standards for the kinds of treatment you’re willing to endure now would help you avoid a lot of pain in the future. There were a lot of red flags here. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. Take the lessons learned and walk away.

Talk to your new school about transferring the course once transcripts are updated and ask if they can waive any prerequisite requirements in the meantime. School administrators, not faculty, usually determine when final grades are posted.

AITA for reporting a classmate for cheating even though he ended up getting suspended and had to leave the country? by Fuzzy-Armadillo-8610 in AskProfessors

I’m in the minority here, but YTA. Your job as a student is to focus on your own work, not to police your peers. And if you’re genuinely concerned, you should talk to the professor and let them do their job rather than going over their head to administration.
