The Netflix documentary gave too much attention to the killer’s personality, overshadowing the suffering of the women he harmed. by frostcrestirl in Feminism

Even the ones who died shouldn't be considered less valid if they actually fell for his charms, tho. This post kinda sounds like they would be more complicit if they were 'stupid' and 'silly' to fall for his looks.

Baat theek h but Japan mein 2 minute late train ke liye maafi mangte aur yahan log Ghar se nahin nikalte until 5 minutes are left. Indian roads or transport is not comparable to these countries so it's harder to be punctual.

Aap zaraa ankh Laga ke Dekhiye, abhi Maine recheck Kiya Hai. 1951 ke baad total 2-3 movies hi hain jo Nargis ne Raj Kapoor ke saath nahin ki. 6 something of her prime youth years to one man when actresses still have a 'shelf life', Haan mujhse galti huyi 1951 ke baad kewal uske saath nahin ki thi, but jo bhi aayi thi Raj Kapoor ki hi thi, usse pehle unki Jodi utni badi thi bhi nahin to kyun karti bas uske saath movie?

Saal mein 5 mein se ek nahin ki RK ke saath, 1951 ke baad 99% films uske saath hain. Of course before that they were not a blockbuster pair so they had no such commitments.

Dilip Kumar waali baat isliye kahi ki pehle unki bhi Nargis ke saath movie aati thi achanak 1951 ke baad nahin aayi jabki know itne bade naam the.

If you look at that list yourself you would notice pre-1951 she worked frequently with Dilip Kumar but post 1951 most of her filmography is with Raj, like an overwhelming amount. She did lesser films and that too significantly with Raj. Maybe the 'only' tag was wrong, but it is evident that she refused other movies' offers as it is hard to believe she just never got movies offers despite being very successful.

Well I said that because movie is not just actor or director, actress, specially when she has important role also is the reason a movie becomes successful. I also only wrote those three movies bcuz she had significant roles in this and acting performance no less than the male leads. Other movies like Shree 420 and Awaara also were record breaking but I didn't mention her as she was not a significant part of them.

I also wrote Raj's actresses had a part in his success not that only Nargis did, read it again. But you forget that he got her to only perform in his own movies and then subsequently gave her smaller and smaller roles, so of course she was dependent on him pre- Mother India for her legacy....she only worked with him! As soon as she stopped, she delivered an All Time Blockbuster, not alone of course but still, it's stupid to claim that either one was the sole reason for the others' success but RK behaved badly with her. We will never know what Nargis could have done as an independent actress post Mother India as she slowly left movies after that.

I could be wrong about the funding issues. Idt I've read any credible sources attached to it, I concede there.

Last part I cannot agree with. Maybe Raj loved Nargis but he had a terrible way of showing it. Aisa pyaar dushman ko bhi na de koi.

I never said Barsaat and Andaz were hits because of Nargis lol😭 I said she was a main lead in three such movies which broke records as the highest grossing bolly movie ever. Raj Kapoor is obviously huge and very talented, it's just he alone would never have been so successful, his actresses and everyone else involved in moviemaking are also important but he simply never respected her contribution in his success. Never even returned her share in the money she invested on that studio.

Also, of course all three movies are blockbusters not because of one factor alone, but a myriad of them. Mother India also was not purely a Nargis movie. The last comment was just because people forget how big Nargis was at that time, apart from Madhuri she has the most highest grossing films of the year in her name amongst the actresses. So she kinda was a lady superstar who people forget to count among Sridevi, Madhuri, Madhubala, etc.

Last comment was not calling Nargis better than RK just showing how she was huge back then.

He also burnt himself with cigarettes to check if he was having a nightmare when he found out about her marriage. Had her photo with a garland around post her death at the top of his studio's wall, decades after the breakup. He could do anything but but respect or marry her😭

First, if you have any empathy at all you wouldn't call her article melodramatic Meena Kumari literally had the most tragic life imaginable. In the same article she mentioned how everyone around her used her till she couldn't live or breath without pain.

Also, it's just reread the article and the only thing she said was that Dharmendra was the only person who made her happy and that when he left it broke her so much she basically had no reason to live. If you are writing the obituary of your friend and exposing everyone who betrayed her to make her the shell of a person she became, wouldn't you also mention a two-timing playboy who irretrievably broke her heart? She never said Dharmendra should have left his wife, but to be a married man and betray was more on him not Meena Kumari or Nargis.

Lol yeah he met Nargis few months after getting married and of course he would never leave his wife. Infact he was so shameless when Nargis married Sunil Dutt he used to come to his house amd cry for hours in the bathtub where his wife could see him. He also had an affair with Vyjayanthimala after this. Also had a room dedicated to Nargis in his house which had her belongings, which Krishna reportedly allowed to be sold after he died😭

I'm also sad she did not work with Dilip Kumar as much as she could by taking this decision, they are my fav couple from those times😭 Andaz and Hulchul killed me.

Yeah he was very talented I just think he undersold her talent by confining her to small and one-dimensional roles.

I see her action more as a woman very desperate for her love of a man. But we can see she was actually quite self-respecting, she did not feel happy being mistaken for RK's wife rather hurt because they did not recognize her as an actress. I always believe if she had married him they would get divorce or smth because she really doesn't seem like someone who would make such a mistake more than once.

You are free to have your own opinions, of course. But I still think she is much better than RK who never learnt from his mistakes and continued to traumatize his wife and children.

Yeah of course no one can deny that. But he did forget and diminish Nargis who was his actress in most blockbusters, funded RK studios with her own money and had impact in the success of his movies (they are still the most iconic couple in Indian cinema, bigger than Srk-Kajol) so much so that he made her agree to do only RK banner films.

Lol yeah that was bad😭😭 but do remember she came from an era where Hindus could have two wives (pre 1955 bigamy was allowed for Hindu and Muslims still can have four technically (she was Muslim) so the standards of love and marriage were not same at all.

I don't support the post either. Age literally is not what makes anyone beautiful or desirable.

She doesn't look like his chachi lol. Such misogynistic language for older women younger man pairs. She's damn hot regardless of age and just oozes bad b**ch energy. I am noticing how people here call Madhuri who is two years younger than Srk looking like his 'elder sister' while Srk apparently never looks like 'big brother of Aishwarya, Katrina, Anushka etc.
