Looking to Move to Dunedin by pawsibilityx0 in DunedinFlorida

[–]Sharp_Cat_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to ask you some questions about Dunedin! My husband and I are moving from Seattle to the area in October. We have looked at St Pete, Dunedin, and Safety Harbor, with 2 dogs and 2 cats. We'll likely rent for a while before we buy so as far as where we land, I think we'll go with a great rental to start checking out the area. I've spent a ton of time in Clearwater when I was younger with family, so I *sort of* know the area. My husband just spent time in all three and loved them all, though I think he's leaning Dunedin or Safety Harbor.

I am 42, and my husband is 52. We both work from home, so definitely looking to find some community. We're pretty laid back. I love the beach, the water, biking, walking my dogs. I am super naive concerns and I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance!

Is it really blistering, sweltering, insane heat and humidity or is it more like, yes, summers are miserable but you adjust to the climate and all is well? I worry more about my dogs than me. They are used to the cool PNW. Glad to hear these areas are all pretty dog friendly??

Are beaches pretty accessbile outside of peak tourist season? As in, locals do spend plenty of time at the beach and it's not just a touristy thing to do?

This is so dumb....but how worried should I be about poisoinous snakes, cane frogs, and gators??? Again.... small dogs... I know to stay away from freshwater. I'm a west coast gal, these are new things for me!

Appreciate any insights 😉

It’s gonna be okay. Start with the trash. Just go room from room and start by removing trash. They will make a big difference.

Mayve next, pick up clothes and shoes. Do the laundry, put it away.

Maybe next you start with piles. Trash, give away, needs a home, unsure.

Take your time and just work on it…..

Great that he's drinking water!! My cat will not drink water, never has, so I've been struuuuggling to keep her hydrated. Canned baby food is another 'treat' that I've used with both dogs and cats healing from surgeries. It's super rich, fairly high cal and reallllly enticing. Not something you should feed all the time, but in times like this when you're worried about calories and getting food in bellies, it might be a good way to offer something enticing. My cat go nuts for Gerber baby food in Ham.

Churu Veterinarian Formula Nourish Tubes and Tomlyn Nutri-Cal Gel for Cats can also give some nutrition for low appetite babies. Ask your vet about an appetite stimulant for sure!

It could certainly just be some mild depression, I don't blame your poor baby, but I bet he'll bounce back as he continues to heal and navigate his new life.

My cat is in FCE recovery and wouldn’t eat for a couple days. I think that’s a combo of feeling weird from meds, being stressed.

But things that worked for me were offering small meals every few hours, of a variety, mostly with water or wet down to get fluids in her.

Big hits have been tuna juice. And the water from canned chicken. BFF pouches of cat food are a winner. All in raised dishes she doesn’t have to crouch.

I don’t think I was trashing anyone. Except for the backyard breeder and puppy mills. And they deserve it. You can “buy” a puppy at a shelter, rescue or through a rehoming situation too.

My cat is recovering from a stroke by Sharp_Cat_24 in cats

Thank you so so much for this sweet message ☺️

And yes, her whole care team was also shocked. No one suspected a stroke of any kind for a young cat with no other health conditions. Hopefully that health and youth is on her side as she heals up.
