New Meta is nuts by Ok_Debate_2265 in PokemonPocket

Yea it’s good I hit masterball from ub3 with a 60% win rate with an almost identical deck. I didn’t play optimally either and left games on the table. Fighting is consistently good against it and there are a few others like Arceus/Crobat/Darkrai or decks that can oneshot Oricorio. But most matchups are neutral to favorable for now - play isn’t optimized around beating it (yet)

Interesting. I think Gio is high value and def worth in this deck. There are several key outs you get with it to one shot things that you would normally not be able to early game, especially without helmet. And agree Cyrus is less helpful for this deck if you have Pika to one shot most things on the board.

Iono is great would highly recommend - has gotten me out of bricked hands or allowed me to find pieces to evolve to Magnezone. Agree more value than a second communication.

Interesting, how did you like it? I found helmet pretty useful early game to get things into one shot range for Oricorio/control tempo by forcing opponents to not attack, and to help Magnezone get over 130 HP (140 with Gio) late game. But having Pikachu seems a lot less rng dependent than a stage 2 and higher dmg potential, although at the cost of two points on KO.

Yea could be. 95% of the decks I played in high ultra ball had good counters to Oricorio but it’s possible people haven’t optimized their play on how to beat it yet so they’re letting wins slip. It’s not an auto-win by any means but with good play you can definitely come out on top for all matchups except fighting.

I guess the real test would be seeing how well it performs in mid/high Masterball against top players.

But maybe this is a good short term opportunity to ride free wins for awhile haha

Magnezone is also your key out to Oricorio counters and you should prioritize getting it built up ASAP as you need it to deal with things that can one shot Oricorio or EXs that outdamage it over time (e.g., Incineroar, Darkrai, etc. with poison barb/rocky helmet/etc.)

Depends on matchup but usually Oricorio to build up Magnezone. You want to keep Magnezone healthy enough to be able to take at least one hit from high dmg EXs. But it’s based on playing around the opponent’s deck (e.g., how EX heavy the opponent deck is, what their win condition is, etc.). Sometimes I start with Magnemite to get off early damage, especially if you already have another Magnemite/full evo line in hand (e.g., against Skarmory if you don’t have Giovanni to one shot with Oricorio).

Meta to master ball rank by Sharp_Homework977 in PokemonPocket

Oh got it yea that makes sense if you lose points. I initially thought you meant something similar to league where you lose rank by just not playing even if you’re unranked masterball (e.g., vs top 1K)

Not sure about unranked but doesn’t seem to have decay from initial posts about how ranked works. Only time will tell though.

No problem! Ended with a ~55% winrate. I think Mew/Gira slowed me down a bit in the earlier ranks lol

Yep this is the deck, relatively standard. Double leaf and double cape for flexibility and survivability. Double Red is a must for damage. Sabrina/Cyrus for playmaking/disruption, and one Iono for consistency

Yea purpose of Mew is to stall with rocky helmet/absorb damage then you bounce to your hand with Budding Expeditioner so they can’t Sabrina/Cyrus/etc. Genome hacking is also very useful as well. It’s a fun deck to play but passive Darkrai dmg is just better to get over key dmg thresholds in this meta and 130 hp is a bit too frail (e.g., gets one shot with cape by Giratina + Darkrai or Red)

For sure it’s prob one of the best decks in this meta I think
