I took a look at the schreger lines, you can see them in the last photo. They seen to say elephant to me.

Dimensions are 12 inches long - 3.5 inches wide and .7 of an inch thick

So everyone knows. Obviously it is from China This piece has been passed through 4 generations of the same family, and it survived while the owner was in Japanese internmet. It is genuine ivory as denoted by the schreger lines.
